In order to support multiculturalism we need to include others, and in a means to achieve this we need to be able properly communicate to others who are not fluent in English. Make the event friendly for a lot more people.

I plan to go around to multiple translator & interpretation companies in order to source the correct peoples to suit our needs. As we will need several interpreters at the help desks in order to provide a friendly experience. As well as this we will need translators to allow subtitles for any live scripted events and any pamphlets, and posters. Finally, interpreters should be stationed at any raffles/auctions.

This event will foster a greater sense of community and inclusion.

Good relationships with others can change communities. Social connection makes us feel better, it helps prevent loneliness, isolation and depression. The aim of the festival is to bring people and organisations together allowing members of our community to re-connect, meet new people and make new connections.

There will be loads of entertainment at Winter Wonderland including:

· Live music

· A winter fashion show

· Street art face-off
· Creative Workshops

· Photography competition

· Games and rides for the kids and young at heart

If you need a bit of a break from all the excitement, grab something to eat from one of the food stalls and head on over to the the chill-out zone.

This is a gold coin donation event with entry and all other proceeds going to BeyondBlue (https://www.beyondblue.org.au/), an organistion which provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.

Designers will also be able to promote themselves and/or their label. The garments that have been created will then be auctioned off with the money going to a good cause.

In order for this happen I will contact local designers by either calling, emailing, visiting or writing a letter to dress makers. These dress makers may own a small boutique or a store that does alterations. However, I am aware that creating garments take a while to piece together; in order for the designers to contribute I will have a competition at the end of the show for the best piece of the day and/or night.

The fashion show will also need models, hair stylists, make up artists, photographers and individuals who are involved in entertainment and can set up a stage, lights, music, etc.

Models will be found from a modelling agency and will be told that by contributing, professional photos (taken by the event photography team) will be taken and will go towards their modelling portfolios. This also goes for the hairstylists and make up artists who may also have photos of the work, which they can include in their portfolio.

My job is to plan and write a large, coffee-table-type book based on the event.

This book will be the perfect platform to capture the excitement and spectacle of the day. Attendees at the event will be able to purchase the book at a later date as a permanent reminder of the magic of the Winter Wonderland. The book will also serve as a permanent keepsake for lovers of good art, as the book will be filled with examples of artwork, excellent photography and cutting edge fashion.

All proceeds from the sales of the book will go towards Beyond Blue, thereby raising as much money for the organisation as possible.

I plan to design and crate the map in a simple and easy to read format so children and adults alike can direct themselves around the Winter Wonderland Festival.

A map is important in order to minimise confusion so the event may run smoothly. The map will also minimise queries to the help desk that could potentially be avoidable.

The map of the event will be a simple colour coded map to give the public an idea of where they will be able to find certain events and stalls in order to plan their day (Figure 1)

The maps will be posted on social media and hard copies will be at the entrances and help desk available for all to take and use throughout the event.

On the reverse the map there will be a daily planner allowing the public to plan their time at the Winter Wonderland Carnival (Figure 2).

With these events in mind the Winter Wonderland event will encompass an ice rink for both public use and performances throughout the event.

Our Event: There will also be a stage for main entertainment including music dance and other acts where local entertainers will be able to perform and raise money for the event. Areas such as the Creative Tent will include visual art displays and workshops where the public can go to create artwork, buy artwork or participate in competitions. There will be a Fashion Show and Auction area to incorporate even more art forms so that the event appeals to the whole community. This will also contribute to raising funds for charity. The Chill Out Zone will be a designated area full of books, beanbags and peace where people can go to get away from the buzzing and busy areas to spend their time relaxing and reading. A donations wall will be set up where anyone can go and donate to charity and leave their mark, the aim of the donations wall is to promote togetherness of the Perth community. Scattered among these areas will be Kids Play zones to include people of all age and interests, this will maximise participation and enjoyment for the whole family.

The desk will contain various pamphlets and booklets about the event, as well as any useful information . There will also be a couple of TV's showing information about the event, BeyondBlue and information about our sponsors.
The desk will supply small bags containing a copy of these pamphlets for visitors to take with them instead of collecting them at the desk.
Visitors will also have the ability to contribute to a donation wall after making a donation in which they can collaborate with other guests in making a collage of their donations.

Volunteers will be sourced through application information found on the event website. They will be chosen and placed based on their skills, availability and desired roles. Applicants can receive a reference and may use this opportunity as a part of their resume, if desired.

Several Volunteers will be spread out throughout the event in order to assist visitors with information without having to travel back to the main desk. They will have access to their phones in order to contact me or other team leaders in the event of a question they are unsure on answering.

As this is a community event, I believe it's important to include a public organisation, such as the Public Library, to contribute and show their presence in the community to people. The Library will be contributing a variety of books for children, adolescents, and adults. The main focus of the literature will be to provide information on various different mental illnesses and disorders, as well as books on how to deal with these issues. We could include pamphlets, and perhaps information on different organisations who assist with these issues, such as Youth Focus, HeadSpace, and Arafmi.

I would also like to have a section included in the 'Chill Out' area, where individuals may fill out a survey of some sort to answer a few questions about their experience with mental illness, be it person, familial, or perhaps one of their friends. The answers to this survey could be included in Joe's book, and I think it would also be beneficial to receive feedback from the people who attended the event, so we may improve upon it in the future.

Christmas Projections one the GPO is one of the many things we will incorporate to bring people to the event, this will help with the overall look of the event as the GPO is the backdrop of Forrest Place, by projecting winter themed images (such as snow) it is likely to be an attraction that many will want to see (Figure 4).

The Snow Show of London Court Perth is another past event in Perth likely to attract a crowd, for the Winter Wonderland Festival we will incorporate a snow show each day to promote the Winter Wonderland atmosphere (Figure 6).

- Readability: Using a sans serif body copy font that is easy to read for all ages.
- Usability: Easy navigation, with options for people with disabilities such as an option to make the text larger, considering colour blind people and using colours they will not get confused with.
- Wow factor: It will have attractive images of the things the target audience will have to look forward to such as the fashion show etc.
- Balance in layout: Having a balance of images and type and considering what is the first thing that the audience will see when they land on the home page. I will have to make sure that nothing is 'cut off' when someone first gets onto the website.
- I will make sure that their is a contact us and donations function right at the top of every page of the website so that it is easy for people to find and encourages more donations for Beyond Blue.
- When designing websites at work, we use the 'AIDA' principle which stands for attention (wow factor), interest (wanting to know more), desire (cool things that the audience wants to be a part of on the day ) and action (a 'sign up now', 'contact us now', or 'donate now' button.

My goal for the chill out zone would be for it to be a comfortable and quiet area where people of all ages can relax, read a book or a pamphlet, do some colouring in, and take a break from the event.

I know from experience that people who suffer from a mental illness, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder, may have difficulty being in large crowds with a highly stimulating environment around them. This are would ideally provide a place for people to have a moment to take themselves out of a highly stimulating environment to a calm and quiet one.

I would like to include a table for younger visitors to have some drawing and colouring in time, and perhaps pictures that they draw/colour may be included in Joe's book.

To ensure the are is comfortable, a variety of seats will be available, these could include hardback chairs, as well as beanbags, stools, and possible a couch. The area would be partially shaded, depending on the weather.

A section of the area would be dedicated to a wall where patrons can stick an inspirational message, these messages could be anonymous or not, they could be dedicated to anyone, the only real guideline is to ensure the messages are positive, and uplifting. Since this is a find raising event for BeyondBlue, I would send a team to interview and create a video to give insight of the organisation's background, what contributions/work they've done and how the donations collected from the festival could help them. This video would then be screened on the TV screen such as the information desk under Torin and the main screen during the event. By this the public would be aware and increase the chance of donating.

2. The the promo video would include details regarding the event such as time, date, venue, sponsors and activities/programme.

During the event, there will be 2 teams going around recording footage of activities, interactions/happy moments and interviewing the public for comments

In order to get people working for the team, volunteers or students under the broadcasting/media course from various university could help with getting footage's and being a runner if there's any help needed. We would create a page and share on social media in finding volunteers which is the fastest way.

The stationary team however, professional cameraman would be in charge of shooting and each stage will have one sound system man positioned.

In setting up the screen and stage equipment, lots of help will be needed and one main person will be in charge in checking and making sure everything is correctly put in place in order to avoid any complications.

Instagram and Facebook will be the perfect way to advertise the event. Event attendees can use the hashtags #MindWorks #CityofPerth #WinterWonderlandFestival in the captions of their posts, which will allow their followers to see pictures of the event and hopefully check it out. Since Instagram is famous for its food photos and selfies, the event page will satisfy everyones hunger for the perfect selfie stick shot.

The Instagram page will also post sneak peaks during the lead up to the event, showing snippits of the preparation for the festival. This will again be used to raise awareness of what will be happening on the day and encourage viewers to visit and check out what they've seen online come to life.

There will also be Instagram competitions to be won. In order to enter, people will need to follow the @Winterwonderlandfest account on Instagram and use the hashtags #WinterWonderlandFestival and #WinterFestComp when posting their photos. There will be prizes for pictures posted throughout the day of the different events going on. The pictures with the most likes could win up to $200 along with various other little prizes provided by sponsors of the festival.

If someone clicks that they are interested in an event it will show up on their friends timeline and so this will also be a fats way to get work out, and it will link them straight to the event page which will also have all of the information that can be found on the facebook page.

My target audience for my designs will be for people of all ages, but mostly families including children along with anyone suffering from mental health issues.
