Costa Rica became part of the Mexican Empire in 1821, they were independent from the other Spanish country. They were part of the Federal Republic of Central America until 1823. They gained their full independence in 1823 from the Spanish colonies. Their economy struggled in the beginning because they had no communication with England. Costa Rica made a proper democratic government after 1869. They struggled for a long time before they had a stable government and met the needs of the people who lived and fought with them. They had their full independence and proper government system by 1978. By this time they were still going through transformation but they had a working government system, but they continued to struggle to get money income, so they relied on exporting bananas and coffee. After they were able to get a small income it became easier to be independent country. Today they continue to celebrate their independence in many ways. They don’t celebrate their independence like america. They celebrate their culture with their independence.

Elizabeth Supple

El 5th de julio es sus día de la Independencia.

The War of Independence started in 1810 and didn’t end until 1823. Vicente Emparan was the captain general Captaincy General of Venezuela that had a forced deposition which started the war on April 19, 1810. A year later, seven provinces of the Captaincy General of Venezuela became independent, three remained. In 1812, the first republic fell apart in Venezuela and a huge earthquake erupted in Caracas. The Battle of La Victoria took place in 1812. A campaign was lead by Simon Bolivar. He wanted to take over Venezuela, and that resulted in the second republic of Venezuela in 1813, that didn’t last long. The Spanish power was eliminated in the Battle of Boyacá, all but in the south of New Granada in 1819. Then, Bolívar invaded Venezuela and beat the royalists that remained at Boyacá. Venezuela gained independence from Spain in 1819-20 and was apart of the Republic of Gran Colombia. The second Battle of Carabobo was won by the Grand Colombian army in 1821. The Republic of Gran Colombia was made up of Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, and Panama and lasted until 1830. Venezuela left the Republic of Gran Colombia and became a state alone. Venezuela celebrates this independence every year on July 5th.

savannah vincent

A variety of many groups, political parties, organisations, and etc. worked for many centuries to gain Puerto Rico’s Independence Day . The fifth plebiscite was held in June . Puerto Ricans could vote whether they wanted to be apart of America, have an Independence Day, or they could maintain a territorial status. After voting, having an Independence Day only got 1.5% votes . People who preferred to have an Independence Day later on boycotted the election . Puerto Rico ended up voting on their future five more times with the United States. They soon came to a conclusion and voted on having statehood, independence, and to have remaining territory . Just like the beginning. Later on Puerto Rico went into an extreme bankrupt and needed America more than anything . Puerto Rico had to move on with no money involved and no consent of the Justice Department . Many people complained and tried to get the government to wait for the ballot to get reviewed . But he went on anyways . A former secretary, Kenneth McClintock, gave a speech to all Puerto Rico. He made a point that they no longer can make Puerto Rico great again with having the U.S flag under them all the time . He pointed out that they needed statehood . That is how they finally got their Independence Day . Now Puerto Ricans celebrate it on July fourth just like America .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6-PehtlL6o
Bandera:

The Bolivians fought long and hard for their independence. Their battle lasted for 16 years from 1809-1825 which involved many numbers of battles and deaths. Bolivia wasn't always the country's name, it was first known as Upper Peru. It was later changed to Bolivia by a man named Simon Bolivar. Simon was a military and political leader who had changed the course of Colonial South America. However in the 18th century the local government was the responsibility of the Royal Audience of directed by the President. The Audience was known as the Audiencia de Charcas however they were very ignorant of the situation of the people. They still considered themselves superior to the people. The first wave of nationalist uprisings in Bolivia occurred in 1809 when the government juntas of Charcas and La Paz were formed as a reaction to the events in Spain—the chaotic, almost anarchic, situation in Spain was duplicating itself in Bolivia. The juntas were able to promote and encourage the independence movement which was kept alive by a six guerrilla armies that formed away from the cities and took control of various regions of Bolivia. In 1810, these six breakaway regions would be known as republiquetas which can also be known as the little republics and each were headed by a caudillo which is a military director.
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49TtlZaRiII

Destiny Ulloa

It is a Mexican holiday that celebrates the “cry of independence”. On the 16 of september is when a revolt started against the Spaniards. A man named Miguel Hidalgo was believed to have cried out the day of independence. This took place in a small town called Dolores. This man was one of Mexico's leaders at the time of the war. Hidalgo gave a speech which motivated people to revolt against the Spanish people and also led to his army fighting them. Unfortunately, Hidalgo was captured and killed on July 30, 1811. Mexico wasn't officially pronounced and independent country until September 28, 1821. Just like other independence days, all schools, federal buildings, and most workplaces are closed on the 16 of september. Mexico celebrates independence with fireworks, parties, dancing, food, and music. Flowers, flags, and other decorations are found all throughout mexico on this day. The colors red, white and green can be seen in public areas, cities, and towns all around Mexico. Multiple people are seen throwing confetti and yelling “Viva Mexico” or “Viva la independencia”. Peru was originally discovered in 1513 but it wasn’t until 1524 that an exploration took place and the land of Peru was officially discovered. The leading cause for the gain of independence all started in 1808 with the Napoleon invasion of Spain and the two colonies struggled with one another for their independence. The people of Peru stayed true to the colonie because of the conservative attitude. Conservative attitude means to preserve existing conditions or institutions in a traditional or and fair manner. The Declaration of Independence of Peru was signed by the people of Lima. The people of Lima had to take an oath and the signing of the independence took place on July 15, 1821. Many people were unhappy with the spanish rule. Jose bernardo gutierrez de lara traveled to dolores and asked priest miguel hidalgo in hopes for help on being free from spanish control. The war was led by mexican-born spaniards, mestizos, zambos, and amerindians. He also went to washington dc in hopes for military support. He went back to dolores with gained support. It started as a simple rebellion against their colony but later turned into, and ended, as an alliance between liberals and conservatives. Mauricio, hidalgos brother, helped hidalgo free 80 pro-independence inmates the morning of september 16th, 1810. At 2:30 am, hidalgo ordered the church bells to be rung and ordered his people to revolt. Hidalgo was killed in the time of the war. This speech became known as the “ Cry of Dolores”.

Panama esta entremedio Costa Rica y Colombia

La captial es ciudad de panama

Panamena

El tercero de noviembre

Panama gained their independence not once, but twice. First from Spain on November 21st, 1851 then from Colombia on November 18th, 1903. Because of Panama connected between the pacific ocean and the caribbean, it was used as a means to plunder and invade Peru, but also as a way to get the gold and other valuables out to Spain. This, in turn, attracted the attention of pirates and soon the Caribbean coast line was dotted with pirates. After shippers couldn’t pass by Panama safely, it lost its importance to Spain and was ‘handed off’ to Colombia. Panama, still loyal to the Spanish Throne, continued with traditional Spanish traditions. Years later, a small Panamanian faction backed by the Panama Canal issued a declaration of independence called the Hay-Herran treaty. After being declined by Colombia, the U.S. gave approval to a rebellion by the Panama Nationalists. Finally on November 18th, the Hay-Bunau-Varilla was signed granted independence to Panama.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udf6dG5SuUI

They went to Honduras because of reports of gold in the town of Gracias, so they decided to take it over and make it their capital of Spanish Central America in 1544. That gold didn’t last, though, and four years later the Spaniards packed up and left the town of Gracias and went to the new capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala, Santiago.

In the 20th century, the Honduran people declared war on Germany in World War I, but they didn’t really play a role in the outcome. Widespread unemployment and poverty swept the nation of Honduras, leading to political and civil unrest. The government of Honduras eventually found a way out of its own poverty, establishing many beneficial reforms.

Political corruption swept the nation of Honduras in 2014 when Juan Orlando Hernandez was inaugurated as president.
