The majority of its customer base identifies as women.

This commercial appeals to its base by emphasizing how adult women and little boys have been groomed into patriarchy, through acceptance of the phrase "like a girl".
Sellnow defines patriarchy as, "the structuring of society around family units where a male is the authority figure and is responsible for the welfare of his family members and the community."

The Commercial According to Third-Wave Feminism

Third-wave feminism is the most recent wave of feminism. Sellnow discusses it as being ,"focus[ing] not only on women’s issues but also on a variety of standpoints. Standpoints are essentially our understanding of the world as shaped by where we are situated within it (our life experiences) based on class, gender, race, sexual identity, and so on."

Based on the goals of third wave feminism, this commercial is found lacking. This commercial focuses solely on the differences in gender expectations, without looking at the intersection of different identities. For example, is the phrase "like a girl" received differently based on the racial or socioeconomic status of those being asked.
