It's a front row seat in gang-life and all the dangers that come with it.
Reymundo Sanchez was basically abandoned by his abusive mother and step-father and was left in Chicago. There he meets a lot of gang members and quickly befriends them... sort of... only at the age of 14 he goes through the hardcore life of being associated with gangs. I love the way it's written, it's so... omg it's like Sanchez is right here next to me, telling me his life story. Whenever he feels fear in the book, I felt it while reading. There aren't many books that can do that to me. I will not say why I can relate but I can, and I totally feel why he did the things he did or said the things he said, even thought the things he thought. Though personally, I would've handled it differently.
