1) Some ways we can resolve conflicts are, being the bigger person in the situation no matter your opinion on the topic that started the argument you can at least learn their side of the story. Another way to resolve conflict is to stop the argument or situation before it can escalate into a real problem. The best way to resolve conflict is to understand the other group no matter the situation to stop the conflicts before it even starts.

2) The story the border is a story about conflict. It is a conflict as the two groups of boys that live across the stream from one another do not like each other for no reason and to almost have a form of war between them. This causes them every weekend to gather by the stream and throw rocks at each other to try and hit the other group to hurt them, if they hit each other they cheer because they do not like the person that they have hit. This is a conflict that has kept going because nether group understands the other and doesn’t want to.

3) “The Border” is a good title for a story and I wouldn’t change it because the two groups that are having the conflict aren’t on the same side of the stream. This stream acts as a border between the groups and keeps them from crossing into the enemy’s area of land. It acts like there are two countries at war separated by borders as the boys are the countries at war and the stream is the border separating them from having a close up battle instead they have to throw the rocks across the stream to hit each other.

Noah 1.There are many ways to resolve conflicts. I believe the best way to resolve a conflict is the talk it out, respect each other, and get to know each other better. If they do this the conflict would or could be resolved and they will stop fighting.2. Yes, the text the border is about conflict. The conflict is intense in this text because the people from each side where throwing rocks at each other trying to draw blood on purpose. If they drew blood, they would jump for joy. This text conflict was very rough.3. I believe the border is a good tittle for this text because it is very specific. I believe it is specific because the border is referring to the Brooke that separate people like a border. This Brooke also keeps the unwanted people out so the people from the other side can’t come over just like a border. That is why the border is a good tittle for this text.

Some simple ways we can resolve conflicts is too stay calm and asses what your doing or what the situation is looking like and choose the right action, another way is too talk it out with who your enemy is and try to understand each other.

2.	The story is about conflict because the title is called “The Border”, which represents that there are two different sides in this story, another example is in the story they say that they would triumph when someone started bleeding on the opposing side of the brook. One last example is that in the story they would throw rocks at each other until they hit someone, this is my proof that this story involves conflict.

3.	I think the title would be better known as “the conflicted sides”, the reason why I like this title is because it sounds better, it connects more to the story because there are two different sides at conflict with one another as if it was a war, so this is why I like the title “the conflicted sides”.

Adam
1. Some easy strategies we can use to help resolve conflicts are being very careful and choosing your words in hopes of not starting a conflict in the first place or making sure that you fully understand both party’s intentions to be sure that neither party is misunderstanding the other.

2. The text “The Border” written by Al Pittman is most definitely a story about conflict. Even just the choice of words and phrases like “battle”, “weapons” and “draw blood” can show you that, but if you read through the entirety of the story than you can also see through the storyline that it is about conflict. It is mainly about attempting to hurt and injure people that they never knew or never bothered to get to know, they have no reason to fight with them, they simply throw rocks in response to the other side throwing rocks.

3. I feel that as far as titles go “The Border” is a very fitting title being that it does stick with the storyline as well as the theme that the story takes. A border implies that there are two sides which don’t get along and need something to divide them (in this case the brook), which fits into the rest of the story perfectly.

1. Conflict is a normal part of life and it can have many ways of solving it and in this case, this is what you can do to resolve the conflict. A great way of resolving conflicts, is to talk it out with the other person or group, because you don't know what they are going through or why you're fighting them. By talking to them you can get to know them better, stop the conflict and possibly become friends with them. Also, another way to resolve conflict is by respecting each other. To respect each other, you need to learn to leave each other alone and not retaliate when they start something. These are just some ways to resolve conflict.

2. The text, "The Border" by Pittman is about conflict. Three examples from the short story that tell me the text is about conflict are. The author used words like "battle" and "weapons" to show that they were going to war. Also, they were throwing rocks at each other with the intent to draw blood and when they did, the ran down the hill yelling and laughing. A lot of conflict is the cause of hate and because of the last sentence "Their offence was they lived across the brook and they hated us for the same reason," it shows that they hate each other. That is why this short story is about conflict.

3. I think that the title, "The Border" is the right title for this short because it signifies that there is something, in this case the brook, that is dividing two sides. The people are using the brook as a border and are fighting the people on the other side because they live on the other side. By calling the brook a "Border, it sounds more like a war between two sides that is caused by people living on the other side.

So that way you can resolve the conflict in the best way possible.
2) “The Border” is about conflict, because there are people from each side throwing rocks at each other every weekend and if they draw blood from someone they would cheer and celebrate about it. They all do this for no reason at all and on purpose.

3) “The Border” is a good title for this poem because just by reading the tile you could already tell what it is going to be about. And the story tells us that they live across the brook which separates them and let’s them from not getting close to each other which supports the title.

1. Resolving conflicts can be easy if you have the right strategies. A few ways we can solve conflicts are not pushing the main conflict forward. If we can isolate the conflict, we can let it go and forget about it. Though, sometimes the conflict can be larger than that, and can’t just be buried or forgotten. Sometimes, when a conflict is a lot larger than we foresee, it can make your world stressful. We can also solve our conflicts and issues by just talking it out, that’s how the truth can be set free.

2. The text "The Border" by Pittman has multiple examples of conflict. One example is, the characters of the text made it a goal to injure the opposite side and most likely vice-versa. Though the characters fight, they have no actual reason to do so. From the text, you could say that these characters had an older generation who taught them to fight with the others across the brook, like a social normality.

3. I think that instead of the title being “The Boarder”, It should be something along the lines of “The Other Side”. I think the title should be changed because “The Boarder” could mean so many things besides what it really is. For example, reading the title, you could assume it was something having to do with a character of a different race or someone crossing a boarder. When using a title that sounds a bit more neutral, that leaves the reader open, and curios for what’s about to come.

The way the author pieced this poem like; “our pockets filled with stones carefully selected from the roadside gravel.” And “They would form up on the far side.” Made it seem like a war has begun between the two sides. Then, part way through the poem that’s when the actual conflict began; “If by chance we did draw blood we’d jump for joy all up and down the bank.”

3.

1) There are few ways to resolve the conflict and they are to stay calm, listen to others and to respect others. You can't just start getting angry, arguing with people and that is what causes the conflict. If there are many arguments, they should start calming down and start talking out the problems. This strategy might not work every time, but you need to keep talking with others and will understand each other later. It will help to bring peace back when talking and understanding each other.

2) The text “The Border” is a story about conflict because as they said on the story, two groups divided by the border which is the brook, hate each other and throw rocks at each other every Saturday afternoon. They don’t know why they hate each other, the conflict is caused just because they live across each other. The part where the author said “I don’t know why we fought them. The only thing they had ever done to us was to return stone-throw for stone-throw.” The conflict was caused because they hate each other because they live across each other and they started stones at each other.

3) I believe that the title “The Border” is a best fit to the story because two groups fight each other with a border, the brook in between them. The brook became a border in the story, so when two groups throw rocks at each other, it sounds like they are having a war. When the author said, “The brook was the border”, it clearly showed how two groups are divided. The reason why two groups hate each other is because they live across each other with the brook in between them. ” Their only offense was they lived across the brook. They hated us for the same reason” I believe that the border is basically the cause of hatred for two groups and that the word border well describes the story so that is why the title “The Brook” is the best title for this story.

Amber1) Conflicts are very common in our everyday society. There are conflicts happening all the time, and will continue through our lives, but there are ways (strategies) to resolve this issue. For example, conflicts typically are formed from an argument, when there is an argument each of the individuals feel like they’re the right one in the situation. I feel a way to stop a conflict before it gets to a real problem is to stand up and be the bigger person. What I mean by that is to get a understanding of the problem and think who is this helping and find a way to make peace between each other. Get an understanding of what there trying to say or make a point of and respect their view of the situation. That’s why I feel being the bigger person and talking it out with them could save a conflict.2) This short story is called “The Border” which is based on conflict scene and how stupid and pointless it can be. In the story, the author explains how the groups on opposite sides would fill their pockets of stones and eventually throw them almost as if they were bombs, like a war would do. They would desire to injure the other individuals and to draw blood. If that were to happen the side that would succeeded would jump for joy in victory. Overall, this story is an accurate example of a conflict.3)	The author of this story decided to title the poem “The Border”. If I got to choose a different title I feel a better fit for the story would be “The Unknown Sides”. I would choose that title instead of the original one, because the author explains in the story the opposite sides of the Brook don’t know each other, they have no clue who or what type of those people are that there going to “war” with. The sides are unknown on what kind of people there are. That’s why I think my title “The Unknown Sides” is a better fit for this story.

Explain with examples in the story.

The text “The Border” is a story about a conflict. This is a conflict because the Christian and the Catholics were throwing rocks at each other. They don’t even know why they are fighting all they know is that they have to throw back the rocks when they throw the rocks at them. One side would get happy when the other side bleeds to death. Lots of innocent families were getting hurt because they don’t like each other. They don’t even know anything about each other all they know is that they have to throw rocks at them. They didn’t just threw rocks they also threw stones and patrol bombs.

3) The poem is titled “The Border”. Explain weather or not this title is the best one for this poem. If it is tell why? If it’s not, tell why? Support your thinking using text examples.

I wouldn’t change the title because it fits perfectly with the story. There are Christians and Catholics people who can’t stand each other so they had to build a big Border between them so the Catholics can live on one side and the Christians can live on the other. That Border is made of a fence, a fence that divides the city into two parts. Even after they build a border they kept throwing rocks at each other so then they build a bigger border so the people won’t be able to throw rocks at each other. First it was just a small fence to separate them then they made it a little bigger when they could still throw rocks they decided to build up to the point where people can’t throw rocks.

Dean1.	You can resolve a conflict by just trying to forget about the situation, or talking it out. They shouldn’t have been fighting in the first place, because you shouldn’t be hating people you don’t even know. Another way of resolving a conflict is just staying calm and not getting extremely mad about the situation.2.	yes, because of the conflict between the two groups of people on the different sides of the river which was the “border”. 3.	The title fits the story very well because of the conflict between the two sides, a group from one side would meet up at the river which was the “border”, when they saw the people from the other side, they would start to throw rocks at each other, and each time somebody hits someone from the other side they would jump around cheering.

😊Krish Patel😊 1. Fights/conflicts could occur regularly and there are many ways on how to stop and end a fight/conflict. Firstly, you can attempt to understand the other person and understand the others perspective on fighting and what they are going through which you must respect. You can then on that information work together with him/they on discovering a way to conclude fighting and understand each others problem. Another way you can stop fighting is to respect each other and accept each other. This will lead the two on becoming friends that respect, understand, and accept each other. This method will also create peace and well-balancement in the two groups. Lastly, if you are in a problem and don’t want to be in it, then the easiest thing that you can do is say sorry and not be stubborn which later can create a tornado of problems. At the end of the day there are many other ways on how to resolve conflicts, but these are just to name a few. 2. The text, "The Border" by Pittman is about conflict. It is a conflict to two groups of boys that are fighting across the border (Which is a brook) for no reason by throwing rocks which persists them on fighting constantly. Every Saturday afternoon they gather on the border with specifically picked rocks and creating storms of rocks flying to the other side desiring on hitting someone and hurting them and when they do, they jump up and down cheering and dancing. The author used harsh words like battle, hurt, weapon, and blood these words clearly indicated that there is a war like situation going on in the poem when they were fighting. The author also exclaimed that both sides fought the other side because they lived on the other side of the brook so without knowing who was on the other side they would fight them. This meant that they did this because of their surroundings and because the other side was also answering their attack with stones. This poem has a very agreeable and indistinguishable meaning with a conflict. 3. I think that the title,” The Border” is the most acceptable title for this poem for various reasons. Firstly, the title indicates that something is dividing the two sides which is a brook. The brook is like a border for the two groups living at either end of the brook. Secondly, people are using the border (or brook) like a battlefield where they fight by throwing rocks. The Border sounds a lot more appropriate for this poem than other names because it reflects the storyline and theme of the poem. I think that The Border is a better name despite the thoughts of others.

Jeremy1.	What are some ways we can resolve conflicts (strategies)? We can resolve conflict with plenty of different strategies such as being cautious of offending someone, being nicer to people and being a ware of the individual or crowd you are socializing with. Firstly, being cautious of offending someone is an important way to resolve conflict because you never know what’s going to offend someone, so it’s better to just be careful about what you are saying because you might not be intentionally trying to offend someone, but they might not like what you are saying. Secondly, being nicer to people is also a great way to resolve conflict. It’s a great way to resolve conflict because if you are being nicer to the person you are having conflict with you are proving to them and yourself that you are the more mature person and it ends all the issues/conflict you are having with the person. Another great way to resolve conflict is being a wear of whom you are talking with. If you are a ware of who you are talking to you won’t say something that you may regret in the future. Finally, to resolve conflict you just need to be a little cautious, more generous and a ware of your surroundings.2.	Is the text "The Border," a story about conflict? Explain with examples from the story.“The Border” is a story about conflict, it discusses how two groups across from one and other that hated each other. The conflict in the story was the stone throwing at each other. Another example of conflict was the ongoing attempts of trying to so call “draw blood”. They were trying to injure one and other for no apparent reason other than they lived on opposite ends of the brook. 3.	The poem is titled "The Border." Explain whether or not this title is the best one for this poem. If it is, tell why; if it's not, tell why. Support your thinking using text examples.I think “The Border” is the best name for this poem. I think it’s the best name for the story because its simple, accurate and it attracts readers. Firstly, I think that this is a good name for this poem because its simple. It’s a very simple title that gets its point across. Secondly, is a very accurate title. Its accurate because there was a border in the poem that separated to groups of people for no reason. thirdly, it attracts readers. It sounds interesting to the person that is about to read this poem. For example, when I read it for the first time I was like “I wonder what the border is”. Finally, I think this is a perfect title for the poem because its straightforward, precise and it sounds interesting to readers.

Love The Border: Questions 1. What are some ways we can resolve conflict (strategies)? There are many was for us to resolve conflicts. One of the many ways we can resolve conflict is, getting to know the other person better, and clearing out any misunderstanding of that person, race or ethnics. When we get to know people, we wouldn’t make false assumptions. Another way to resolve conflict is talking to them. Understand what drove them to do what they did.2. Is the text "The Border," a story about conflict? Explain with examples from the story.Yes, the text “The Border”, by Al Pittman is a story about conflict. It is a conflict between two groups of people, who hated each other, divided by a brook. There are a lot of examples in this story that shows it’s about conflict. Some examples that tells this story is about conflict are: “They would form up on the far side and soon the battle would begin” – this line shows it’s about conflict, because when people start a battle, it is usually because they have misconceptions and misunderstandings against each other. “Their only offense was that they lived across from the brook”, “they hated us for the same reason”- their reasons for hating each other was a very shallow reason. They didn’t know if the other party hated them for the same reasons. If they had talked with each other, I don’t think they would have a reason to hate each other. 3. The poem is titled "The Border." Explain whether or not this title is the best one for this poem. If it is, tell why; if it's not, tell why. Support your thinking using text examples. The title “The Border” is a good fit for this poem, because everything happened at the border. In my opinion I think this title is good for this poem, because I feel like it was the brook that was the main part of the problem, the brook started the fight between them, if the brook wasn’t there they might’ve been able to talk and understand each other, then there wouldn’t have been a fight. But because of the brook, they hated each other because they lived across from each other. “Their only offense was that they lived across from the brook”, this text just proves more that the main problem of their conflict was the brook.

By talking to the other “side” of the conflict we might see our argument in a new light. Another way to resolve conflict would be to look back and see if you are at fault, like if you said or did something that could upset another person.

2.) Yes, the text “The Border” is about conflict because there are two different groups of people fighting. Even though they both don’t know what the other team or side did they would throw stones from the gravel road at each other. The conflict occurs when they both meet up on the two different sides of a river and begin throwing stones.

3.) I think that the title: The Border is the best title for the poem since the boys on each side of a border fight with stones, in this case the border is the brook or stream.
