Children will be given links to many videos of children and adults creating abstract art. I will also encourage students to find their own videos of abstract art being created. Usually an abstract artists has a unique way of moving paint, whether it's rolling pins and saran wrap, pom pom's, spatulas, swinging paint, moving paint with water, or a paint brush. Children will select a method they find inspiring, or create their own method and make their own abstract painting in their art class, or of course in the classroom in necessary. Children will then name their art project and write about the experience they had making art. Such questions will be considered by children: Why did you select the colors you choose? How did you choose to move paint? How do you feel when you look at your painting? This can be adhered to younger grades by having them create recordings of their experiences to their artwork.
