Each character has their own goals, motivations and conflicts, and it is through the interactions and conflicts between the characters that the storyline unfolds. Character design can convey values and moral education. Through the characters' words, actions and behaviour, positive values such as friendship, courage, justice, and respect for others can be conveyed to the reader.

What I learnt: Combining the two artists, I wanted to refer to Manon Gouther's use of materials. I want to make a picture book, and I need to think about the presentation of the images. Combining different materials to create different textures on paper will surprise my paintings. I had to school Hilma on colour, and when I visited Tate, I was struck by the colours in her work, and my eyes immediately fell on these huge pieces of work. I extracted these colours as my colour palette.
