Having different learning styles is a fantastic way to incorporate diversity into the classroom. For example, when reading is being taught, having books that deal with other cultures is a good way to have students learn how to read while also learning about different cultures. For writing, teaching different writing styles is a fantastic way to make every student feel welcome. Lastly, teaching various forms of math helps create multicultural lesson plans.

Using picture books that deal with inclusion or multiculturalism is a great way to teach literature. Love Like a Rainbow or Eyes, Nose, Belly, Toes are good books to use. Celebrating certain holidays or special events is a must in a multicultural classroom. Holidays like Christmas or Hunaka are a good way to make sure everyone feels welcome. Certain events, such as June 13th or Martin Luther King Day, are good historical events for students to know about.
