School is prison 

It is tough 

School is following rules 

And walking in single file lines 

School is eating mediocre food 

Because if you don’t then you starve 

School is being away from home 

And missing your family 

School can tear you down 

Emotionally and mentally 

School is tough because 

School is prison 

cascading from the sky

refracting sunlight to others

to show them a rainbow of hope

But I, myself, don’t see the rainbow

although others think I do

I only see the ground

and what awaits when I strike it

Even though the mark I make 

might change the place it falls on drastically

I will only make a small mark

on the world as a whole

Sometimes a raindrop can give birth to a plant, however,

and the plant can multiply,

sprouting thousands of new lives to replenish the earth

Other times a drop can touch somebody

and enlighten  the world with information 

that they didn’t know before

Revolutionary news of rain 

 that will put that drop down in history

Most times raindrops are remembered

when they come in large numbers

Teaming together to impact the world 

for better or for worse

In the worst cases the world will suffer 

but eventually pick up the pieces 

Regaining structure and coming back

 stronger than before

So raindrops can always benefit the earth

in one way or another

but my selfish hope 

is irrelevant to this

For why better the earth 

but die a sad soul

Instead I choose to invest myself

in making sure my water is happy 

by ensuring a bright reality

for the entirety of my life

But I know that my time in the sky will be short

so I find hope in mysterious ways

I pray that there might be a cavern 

under the crust 

that I can stay in forever 

after I leave the sky

Only then may I have true happiness

Choose your path wisely

and cherish every moment of it

cause life is a raindrop

cascading through the sky

You think you have a grasp of it

but by then it’s passed you by

Filled with destruction

The zookeepers try to keep it together

Yet the wild animals scurry and scatter

If there wasn't for feeding time

People would be devoured 

On your way into the zoo close the gate

Or else there is a stampede to get out

When people ask where we got them

We always reply, the wild

They come in coughing and full of disease

But even though these animals are messy it's our zoo.
