Just as autumn with its colors has inspired countless painters, so too can it provide inspiration to kindergartens and those who naturally want to incorporate programming and cultivate the algorithmic thinking of their young students. In this activity, we will first prepare an autumn tree and cut out many leaves in yellow, orange, red, and brown. We will also prepare cards with arrows in the corresponding colors.Starting the activity, we can give students a card with 2 directions and place the cards of the corresponding color, right or left. We can then give them cards with more, e.g. four arrows or even more with a different color combination, if the children seem to be able to do it.

We can also ask children to create their own codes and invite another child to follow the code they created.

The game can remain in the educational materials corner, for students to experiment, practice and have fun playing.

The toddlers were divided into five groups. Each group had an animal and had to avoid traps (scissors and a red hole) to get the leaves to the tree. Three of the five groups managed to get the leaves to the tree with complete success. The other two had some difficulty.

While discussing school and how students get to it, a student said that he "takes" the bus. We asked him to describe the process and immediately decided to dramatize it. We decided on the route and set up obstacles that would make driving difficult. The students were paired up and each pair took turns choosing the route they wanted and following it. One student was the older brother who also gave instructions to the younger brother. The final destination was the school. The next day we used the grid where the students worked in pairs again but this time the older brother had to lead the younger brother and give instructions based on the squares of the grid so that they could reach the bus stop. The students had fun and came into first contact with programming.
