Yankes figurative journey

while Yanek survived the resettlement his family did not they all died beside Uncle Moshe he was happy that he at least had one family member left. On his first day there Amon Goeth during roll call had these dogs and they would eat jews whenever he told them to yanek was standing right next to someone getting eaten but he couldn't help because he didn't want to get killed he felt helpless and full of fear. i know this because In the story it states " The man screamed for mercy and then help as the dogs bit him and tore him right beside me. I wanted to help, to fight back."(pg.70-71) this shows how he wanted to help him but he couldn't he was to scared to get shot or killed by the dogs and he felt helpless cause there was no one to save him with out dieing.

While he was walking, he saw a juderant from Krakow and felt rage, anger, and fury. I know this because it says in the story. "stolen everything else from us while the Nazis took my mother's ring. I remember my mother's eyes that day, the emptiness that had never been completely gone away. I've been so scared so protective that I had an even felt anger I did now"(pg.102) with this anger he wanted to start a rebellion. Then one of the Jews started to fight back he wanted to join but no one else would. Then the Nazis started picking people and they killed them just because that one guy tried fighting back. he felt like he could do nothing he didn't care if he died or didn't anymore

Then they had to shower in freezing water, but Yanek still wanted to get clean. During this all he could think about was a toothbrush he used to use and how happy he would be just to have a toothbrush. then they made them stand outside for roll call for hours. then someone wiped their face and the SS officers went out and made him do the Sachsenhausen sault and Yanek felt bad for him cause if he dropped at all he would be shot. the guy in the saulet ended up dropping and dying.

Also, they would kill multiple of the people and they would only leave a little bit of them to survive. For the ones who did survive they wouldn't work for an entire week. On page 197 it says, "Take the other workers back to the barracks," the commandant said with disgust. "No work for a week, until they regain their strength." This explains how Yanek was sent here and he now thinks it's all good because he doesn't have to work.

Also people walked into the zoo and Yanek wondered if when they looked at him if they saw an animal or a person and he went even so sure himself this is how the chapter could have messed up again and challenged him mentally.

Still, then the guard said that there was a penalty for not having one of them 20 lashes but the guard kept making him restart and restart. Yanek was in tons of pain but that night he had a dream. how he was in a nice field then a dark cloud appeared and soon he was back to getting lashes in his dream this chapter beat Yanick Down but he is still surviving.

Yanek still had high hopes at this camp hoping that war would just be over and it seemed like it. Because Yanek realized they didn't have to wake up roll call or do work because the soldiers didn't know what to do. Then soldiers came to the camp and the prisoners thought that they were Germans so some people accepted their fate and some went to hide.

But soon, the prisoners realized that the soldiers were allies and Americans; they had been saved.
