We would group our students based off of data we have collected from standardized tests, pre-test and running records. We want the students to succeed, so we will group them based off where they are academically.

I would group students by team teaching. Each teacher has their own subject that they are better at teaching than the other and the classroom is seen as more of a whole than parallel teaching where its almost divided.

If I were to parallel teach, depending on the context and content, I would group students into a group of students who need more support and students who are ready for a challenge. I could also group students based on preferred learning styles, etc.

I would group the students in a way that is reminiscent of student needs. Students who may need more differentiated instruction would benefit from being in a group together. Students who need enrichment time rather than differentiated instruction would make up the second group. This way, students who need guidance receive it adequately, along with those who may need a challenge.

For parallel teaching in a given subject, I would group students based on ability/proficiency. For instance, one group would be a group of students who needed extra support with the topic and the other group would be a group who needed more rigor.

I would group students depending on what the activity was. It may be more beneficial to group students by level of understanding or to mix them up in order to have all students work together and help each other. I think this would benefit because the students that are stronger can help ones who aren't and they can all use each others strengths.

I would split them based on their learning styles. One side of the room could have a ton of visual representations and manipulatives, while the other side of the room could be more of a standard approach.

I would group students by splitting the class in half by either knowledge level or if there is a pre-assessment, I would group on who has some knowledge already and then students that still have room to grow.

being on the same level helps students support one another and grow together, rather than some students bored with the content, or one student falling behind the group.

I would group students based on support needs. For example, if some students needed more support in their lesson, they would be in a different group than others who maybe need less. Another example could be grouping students based on how they learn. Visual learners might be in a different group than students who learn better verbally. This benefits students because they get their learning more catered to them.

Using co-teaching, I liked the style of having one teacher leading a lesson, while another is going around to monitor student understanding. I know that when you're up at a board, you will not catch every instance of a student's learning. I think this would help with figuring out which students need more additional support and have that teacher who is monitoring pull them for a group and address these additional supports.

How would you group your students? How would that grouping benefit students?

I might switch up the seating often. I would use students data and progression rate to split them into who might need more support and who might need less support, and then I might either put these students in the front of each side or on one side while the other side is students that can escalate faster with the material. I would want to switch this up often so that students do not catch on to who are the high students and the low students.

I think how I would go about grouping students is is grouping those who are preforming below grade level together, those who are above grade level together, and then the students who are at grade level would be split into two groups if necessary. This would benefit students, because then the instruction they would be receiving would be at their level, in a way that would make sense to them in order for their learning to grow.

I would group students based on their academic levels. Depending on their academic achievement in the classroom, the higher and some in between students would be in one group and the others that need the most help with a few students that aer slightly struggling will be in the other.

This grouping would prevent one group of students to wait on others if they are ready to move forward, and give the other students more time if needed.

One way to group students could be based on random choice. This could benefit students because there would be a range of skills and we could utilize partner work within each group. Another way to group students could be based on students' needs and thinking about differentiating the support the two groups of students may need. This could be beneficial for students to receive more specific support.

The groups can be made based on how they interact with learning:

visual learners v. text learners
do they process by drawing v. by writing v. by orally
..etc

then the activity can be flexible based on these characteristics, which benefits the student's learning process because they have accessibility by being provided with different options.

- Students can be better supported if there are less students for the teacher to be paying attention to, and it may help them concentrate better.

- In some grouping scenarios, one group may be bigger or smaller if the teachers decide that.

In parallel teaching, I would group students based on how students could best support each other through skill level. Having students who may be slightly below and/or at grade or above grade level can help them both. Then, that's how the teachers would be supporting by.

I would try to group students by various learning styles. I am envisioning 2 teachers teaching the same content in different ways to appeal to different types of learners. Then, I would group students into the group that matched their learning style the best. For example, if group A is using manipulatives, I would put students who need tactile learning experiences in group A.
