         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li>Identify students who are beginning to struggle or fall behind in a course, well before summative assessments take place, and then suggest methods for remediation;</li><li>Indicate which learning methods are most effective for a student and then suggest similar learning activities for other topics;</li><li>Construct a series of learning events or a curriculum for a student "on the fly" (Long &amp; Siemens, 2011, p. 38);</li><li>Potentially combine LMS data and data from mobile devices to "bridg[e] the divide between the physical and digital worlds by capturing location and activity" (Long &amp; Siemens, 2011, p. 38);</li><li>Help educators determine the content and presentation methods that are most engaging and compelling for students (Siemens, 2013).</li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Determine whether "optional" learning content and activities are actually used, and if so, when and by whom. This could either allow a subject matter expert to confirm the belief that every new employee should learn something about the history of electricity and our company's proud contributions to it, or validate that this content is not something employees find useful during their first 30 days on the job;</li><li>Help establish a customized "path" through a series of provided learning activities based on how the employee rates the first 3-5 learning activities completed;</li><li>Identify which types of employees (for example, managers who were promoted from within vs. external management hires) find a particular learning activity useful, and which do not;</li><li>Determine which lines of business perceive the most value from a specific course (and, I'm happy to say, this is not an aspirational goal, but something that current survey tools can easily do);</li><li>Show us which web sites employees find most useful when researching various aspects of their jobs; and</li><li>Identify which company facilities provide the greatest learning when toured by groups of employees from another facility (for example, which nuclear facility is most informative when toured by employees from a fossil-hydro plant?).</li></ul>]]></description>
