I loved what they did in the cistern because i love reverb and echos in music. I want to make music with so much reverb it almost sounds like one long sound flowing into another and I think doing that in real time requires a lot of long, slow sound and LISTENING not just hearing. I also liked how she described hearing as the physical reaction and listening as using the hearing and understanding it deeper mentally.

For “to record” I wanted to get the kind of static sound that’s in the back whenever you record something, because that’s just the sound I think of when i hear the word record. It makes you think about the space the recording is being taken in

This is me setting up my microphone and Focusrite and getting my things plugged in to my computer. This one is more about the human act of actively recording, and the process, and the clunkiness before the pretty sounds, rather than a computer (passively?) recording

a protein is a string of amino acids that make up a lot of life on earth, and we should care about it’s sound and it’s relationship with sound because it’s what we and many other things are made of. to use sounds that work with our physiology can be very healing, like sounds that align with the vibration of the molecules and proteins in our bodies

I think slide 1 is the lungs because of the way it looks almost like something stretching. Slide 3 might be the heartbeat because of the little pockets that look like they could be the sound of the beat. Slide 2 just seems like it could be the colon because it's the most textured without pattern.

I really liked the way they played with this and slowly took out the sounds from lowest to highest, it was a really nice way of highlighting the different ranges of sound. Another thing I noticed that's unrelated to the actual sound is that when the sounds are coming back (the frame is at 3:00) the visualization on screen looks like a colosseum with each small higher pitched sound looking like windows

My friends and I were outside drawing and painting when we heard birds singing in the tree above us. One of my friends noticed that when we turned our music we were playing back on the birds’ song changed and got messed up. It makes me think about sound pollution and how easy it is to confuse the lives of things that aren’t human
