We also wonder where the time is for mentoring students. We wonder what "scrimshaw" is. And we wonder how best to support students who are slow starters or so negative about the personal project that they fall too far behind to complete a project.

Scrimshaw is an etching technique in which a student etched drawings into plastic. Historically it was done on ivory, but of course that can't be use now. To my knowledge, they fail the class but they are still allowed to graduate. This class does count towards GPA as well.
