The conditions of the workers who make the clothes and materials are extremely harsh with a debilitating climate A factory worker normally works a 12 hour day earning around $13,140 a year when an average Australian income annually is A$82,436 a year. Firstly people need to be aware that the amount workers are being paid is not enough for basic living. Secondly mainstream brands and the government need to be conscious on successfully ensuring fair wages and good working conditions for their workers. Laws have to be created and applied for ongoing action and change. Lastly, to endorse the rights of workers is to become part of independent trade unions to gain free collective dealings. This is because the workers and their unions will have the power to determine fair wages. Gap Inc is a clothing brand trying to make working conditions better for their workers and are also ensuring fair pay to their workers.

There are many ways we can make a good impact on the earth, like passing on second hand clothes instead of putting them in a bin. There are also a lot of cost effective ways like choose clothes that have stricter rules against putting chemicals into the things you are buying. There are a couple of shops that have organic clothing that is also a reasonable price like The Iconic, they have online and in store bought stores for resonable low prices.

  Fast fashion has been the main reason of why people participate on   ‘throwaway’ culture kept on increasing each year. The result of  75% of Australian adults have been shown in the YouGov report that have thrown our clothes or created clothing waste in the past year.  Australians buy an average of 27 kg of textiles per year, and 23kg of textile will be thrown out into landfill. Which helped an industry to $2 billion during 2017.   Instead of renewing  every season , we can donate or exchange clothes with each other.
