Because of the Global Warming, its natural habitat has been devasted (snowmelt). So, the Pikas were forced to migrate to much warmer areas. But unfortunately, they fail to get used to the temperature  too hot and contrasting. As a result, they die of hot, or by thermal shock. Actually, scientists estimate there only still 1000 specimenes alive. Today, only 24 of them have been seen by humans. If we have to conclude, we could say that in a few hours if research, we discovered a beautiful species. 
But in just a few minutes, we also learned that these innocent little hairballs were dying, all for us ... for a light left on, or running water for nothing. So now, tell yourself it's better to lose 5 minutes of your life, rather than lose their life in 5 minutes.
