When they sent Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan completely ignored and violated the one-China policy. In addition to that they are refusing to recognize Taiwan as a part of China and continues to ignore the one-China policy. This is a troubling development that could potentially harm the diplomatic relations between China and the US. 

China considers Taiwan to be a part of its territory, while Taiwan maintains that it is an independent and sovereign state. Given the state of our relationship with the US, any actions or statements could have the potential to harm the relationship between China and the United States. The relationship between China and Taiwan is an intricate and sensitive matter that has been a topic of discussion for many years. The complex nature of this relationship stems from China's view of Taiwan as an integral part of its territory.

In conclusion, the recent visit of Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan has raised concerns amongst various countries, particularly China, due to the US's refusal to recognize Taiwan as a part of China and the potential harm it could cause to diplomatic relations between China and the US. Any challenge to the one-China principle is a sensitive issue for China and could cause further harm to the relationship between the two countries.

When Mao Zedong (our glorious leader) overthrew the Republic of China their government was no more and his followers automatically became PRC citizens. When they fled everything they owned became in the PRC possession. That includes Taiwan. Taiwan was an island owned by the Qing dynasty but when it fell to Chang Kai-shek escaped to it but since he was overthrown the island is not his. There is only one China and there are many reasons for it.

Here are some reasons why Taiwan is part of China. On October 25, 1971, 22 years after Chang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan, the UN finally, officially recognized the PRC as the only China. On August 2 2022 Nancy Pelosi broke that exact rule, as she recognized Taiwan’s president showing that the U.S recognized Taiwan as a country therefore not following what the UN said and forcing our hand to show that, what she did was not okay. Even though Taiwan is part of the PRC the PRC will maintain cultural and commercial relationships with Taiwan. Back in the Cold War the U.S president Richard Nixon came to China and made the “five nose” commitment where it stated (i.e. not seek a “new Cold War”; not seek to change China’s system; the revitalization of its alliances is not against China; not support “Taiwan independence”; not look for conflict with China)  and has failed to uphold their agreements.

China and the U.S are two major countries and the right way to deal with each other is to keep mutual respect and not to meddle in each other’s affairs. The U.S should stop using Taiwan to contain China. The U.S should stop supporting “Taiwan independence” separatists in any way. The U.S should stop hollowing out the One-China principle and deliver and follow the “five nose” commitment (i.e. not seek a “new Cold War”; not seek to change China’s system; the revitalization of its alliances is not against China; not support “Taiwan independence”; not look for conflict with China) And there I ask you sons and daughters of the people of the PRC I ask you to always fight for the reunification of Taiwan and China. And lastly not to forget. And to all those pesky U.S counterparts here’s a quote “Those who play with fire shall perish in the end.” 

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China. 181 countries have made diplomatic relations because of the one-China principle. Yet the US breaks this relation when Nancy Pleosi visits the Taiwan  region of china. This is a serious violation of the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-U.S. joint communiqués.

As we continue to strive for what we believe Taiwan refuses to recognize the 1992 Consensus, go all out to push forward “de-sinicization”, and promote “incremental independence”. The United States, for its part, has been attempting to use Taiwan to contain China. It constantly distorts, obscures and hollows out the one-China principle, steps up its official exchanges with Taiwan, and emboldens “Taiwan independence” separatist activities. These moves, like playing with fire, are extremely dangerous and those who play with fire will perish by it. This saying is a lot like the situation we are all in. If you mess with fire  you’ll get hurt just like if you mess around with us you’ll get hurt.

The United States and Taiwan share similar values, deep commercial and economic links, including the trade routes, and strong people-to-people ties. Through 2019, travel for business and pleasure from Taiwan to the United States increased by 70 percent since Taiwan became a member of the U.S. Visa Waiver Program in November 2012. Plus, the US resonates with Taiwan's tough history. When China had its civil war, the people of Taiwan; currently called the Republic of China (ROC), were weakened because they fought the Japanese in the Sino-Japanese War. After the ROC was weakened, they quickly lost the civil war and retreated to a small island off the coast of China that is now called Taiwan. In this period, the new Chinese government and the ROC were having a hard time starting their economy. But the Taiwanese had it worse. The Kuomintang (KMT) is a Chinese political party that ruled mainland China from 1927 to 1949 before its relocation to Taiwan as a result of the Chinese Civil War. After the KMT lost the civil war with the Chinese Communist Party in 1949, the party retreated to Taiwan and remains a major political party of the Republic of China based in Taiwan.

Now, Taiwan has successfully started its economy and China is inches away from full-out war. I can understand the US and its reasoning in this. There are some difficulties in this, as there are in everything like this. As I've stated, China and the US also have a lot of strong connections, so you can see how it might be hard for the US to go fully against China to support Taiwan. So instead, the US has been subtly going against China's rules about recognizing Taiwan, including flying planes over China and helping Taiwan militarily. But these efforts have been futile, for China already knows that the US recognizes Taiwan and that is the only reason China has not attacked. But tensions are high, and war could break out any day now. 

What has led up to the tension we have today with taiwan? Well let us start with the Qing dynasty. The Qing dynasty was a chain of Chinese emperors throughout the 1800s. The Qing dynasty lasted from 1644, when they took control from the Mings, until 1911, when the empire fell and a republic arose in its place. This new country was called the republic of China, and they thrived. However, in 1927, Communist separatists arose, and a Civil war began. However, in 1938, Japan invaded, and just one year later, World war two began. The civil war stopped until 1945, when Japan was defeated (thanks to the fat man and the little boy) it began anew. The Nationalists had lost many in the war, when compared to the Communists, and so now the tables were turned. The Communists won the war, and the nationalist leader, Chiang Kai-Shek, and two million people fled to the island of Taiwan, and have been there ever since. The communists made a country called the People’s Republic of China (The PRC or PR China). However, the PRC wanted control of all of China, and that included that island of Taiwan. During the cold war period right after the Nationalists fled the mainland, things changed. In 1971, President Nixon’s secretary of state Henry Kissinger talked in secret with Zhou Enlai, the PRC’s premier, and in 1972, Nixon himself visited Beijing (The capital of the PRC) and The USA switched from recognizing the Republic of China (the one stuck on taiwan, ROC for short) to the PRC and also made an agreement with Mao Zedong, called the One China Policy. The United Nations (UN) also expelled the ROC  in 1971. After this, however, congress still wanted to be on good terms with the ROC. They made the Taiwan relations act, which was passed by US president Carter in 1979. Later, president Reagan gave the Six Assurances to Taiwan, which served as a reminder that the US would never betray Taiwan. In 1987, back in Taiwan, dictatorship (which had begun right after arriving in Taiwan) ended and martial law was lifted. Things were quiet here until 2022, when Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House at the time, came to Taiwan and angered the PRC, who thought this was a violation of the one China policy. They, for the first time in history, flew nuclear warheads over the island of Taiwan.

2. Present

Things are rather tense around Taiwan as of this writing (May 2023). PR China  is threatening war, and war with PR China means nuclear war. China has been launching cyberattacks against Taiwan, as well as making an online misinformation campaign against taiwan. They have nuclear missiles ready, and are threatening to use them. They are also doing assorted military drills and mock blockades, maybe preparing for an attempted siege (maybe setting a record for biggest area to have been sieged). Also, another problem is that Taiwan somehow also has two sets of islands, Kinmen and Matsu, which are much closer to the Chinese mainland coast than Taiwan itself is. For example, Kinmen’s islands are on average only 10 km away from the Chinese city of Xiamen, compared to Taiwan's main island being 100km away from the Chinese coast. Matsu is similar. However, if China ever does decide to attack, this could have big implications. By signing the one China policy, the US agreed not to intervene as long as China and Taiwan do not go to war with each other. By attacking, China would enable the US to do many things it cannot do now.

The United States signed an agreement saying they would not recognize Taiwan; now it seems they are closer than ever to doing so. Taiwan is part of China as much as the mainland. And the US having any relations with Taiwan is against the one-China agreement. Despite the trading economy that our country upholds, the United States finds loopholes so they can trade behind our backs with Taiwan. The United States needs to understand the severity of this situation. China is not afraid to call out the United States and what they are doing. We believe the United States feels this is just a minute problem and will go over everyone's heads. 

Frankly, The United States needs to understand that China's and Taiwan's relationship is internal and that we highly advise the United States to stop interfering. The way to fix our relationship with The US is through trust and peace, so we can move forward and forgive. China does not wish to start a war, in which many innocents would die. So we request the United States stop meddling with internal affairs so we can grow a powerful relationship.

Taiwan is a fragile island on a huge world stage. Taiwan is in one of the most difficult positions any country can be in. The leader of Taiwan “Tsai ing wen” is doing a good job managing this situation but one person can only do so much. China’s live missile strikes have been getting closer and closer to the outer island of Taiwan and people can only wait to see what's next. This situation is similar to the Ukrainian crisis where a global superpower invades a smaller country with western allies. The Taiwanese people have been extremely resilient throughout this entire situation. This bravery is what they need.

The Taiwan situation is one of the many reasons why are world is not safe but there are good parts too. I hope you can sometimes forget about all this problem and think about the good parts too. Thanks for reading and see you soon.

 The United States of America admits that it was a little forceful when Nancy Pelosi went to Taiwan and we apologize. Still the People’s Republic of China should not take military action against Taiwan just because they think it is theirs. The nation of Taiwan is a big trading partner with the People’s republic of China and supplies the People’s Republic of China with a lot of technology. It would be extremely idiotic to go to war with a nation that supplies you with a lot of technology.  

Also in the eyes of the world The People's Republic of China will seem like a bad nation because they are trying to conquer a tiny island. We are not saying that The People's Republic of China is a bad nation, it is just that a lot of other countries will think that it is a bad nation. If the People's Republic of China blows Taiwan off the map, then many other countries, who are not involved will suffer because Taiwan is their main trading partner. These are hard times for all countries. We are still recovering from the Covid 19 pandemic. We hope that their will not be a big war over Taiwan.

Taiwan has showed us that they are prepared and ready if a war would arise. Mainland China sees this as a threat and again, will act on it if needed. This is an internal conflict in which the USA has no place in. If the USA continues to interfere then we will deal with these repercussions. Although we do not want to start a war as it would be pointless, as we both need each other. But have this message as a warning. Those who play with fire shall perish by it.

Many of the problems concerning Taiwan began when the KMT took over Taiwan in 1945. The KMT then imposed martial law and began what is known as the “white terror.” In 1972 President Nixon visited China and before he arrived Henry Kissinger visited China and talked to Zhou Enlai to try to find an agreement between the two countries. They finally agreed that the United States would not see Taiwan as a country and would see China as the one true China. Throughout the 1990s China fired missiles into the Taiwan Strait. In 2018 the United States passed the national defense authorization act which allows U.S. warships to call at Taiwan’s ports. Although the United States is allowed to bring warships to Taiwan, doing so may cause China to think that the United States is threatening them and could spark a war. More recently in 2022 the United States passed the CHIPS and Science Act and banned the sale of the more advanced chips to China. If both countries continue escalating the conflict it’s only a matter of time before we end up at war.
