Initial - Initial care for a laceration can vary on the severity or how deep it is. For shallow lacerations you should clean the wound, with cold water or a washcloth with some soap, apply antibiotic ointment, and cover the wound with sterile gauze or band-aid. If the laceration is deep, you should apply pressure to the wound and go to the hospital in case you need stitches.
Post - Keep the area dry and clean for 24-48 hours after stitches. Then you can start to gently wash the wound or site 1 to 2 times a day.
