Summary
The movie is about students at a boarding school, who get a new English teacher, who teaches them about life and choices, instead of just schoolwork. The students then reopens the Dead Poets Society and they make some choices and then they have to live with the consequences.
Characters:
Mr. Keating: the new English teacher who is very passionate about poetry and the beauty life. He teaches the students about the quality of life, as well as the meaning of "Carpe Diem". He cares for his students well being and wants them to be happy. in the end he is made a scapegoat for Neil's suicide, and is fired.

Neil Perry: he is one of Mr. Keating's students. He struggles with his father wanting to control his future and life choices. When he realizes that his father will never let him pursue his dreams, he commits suicide. He is a round character, as he changes from obedient to somewhat independent and one could argue, a rebel.

Todd Anderson: at the beginning of the story, Todd is very shy and withdrawn, but after meeting Neil and Mr.Keating he starts to come out of his shell, and becomes more confident. at the end he is the first to oppose the prinicipal, stand up on his table and salute Mr. Keating.
He takes Neil's suicide very hard, as Neil was his best friend.

"The theme Consequenses"
The theme "Consequences" is portrayed mainly in 2 ways.
Mr. Keating makes the choice to teach in very unorthodox ways, and mentors his students about life. this has the consequence that it leads to Neil disobeying his father and embrace his acting dream. When his father forbids him to pursue acting Neil kills himself, a consequence to the father's choice of not letting his son pursue his dreams.
