There's a tradition where you can play with water and no one will be upset about getting wet. Myanmar's new year is on Ta-Khuu (April) and we want to start the new year fresh and clean. So, we douse one another with water for 4 or 5 days. We do lots of donations these days too. Thanaka is made from ground bark. We apply it on our faces and sometimes on the necks and arms of women and girls. 
The history of Thanaka is from the 14th-century and also there has a poem written by our King Razadarit. 
Our Bagan people used it from the 14th-century and Thanaka also exists in the work of our Burmese monk-poet Shin Ratthasara (1486-1529).
Moreover, the Thanaka trees grow most in central Myanmar. And Shwe Bo Thanaka from Sagaing Region and Shinmadaung Thanaka from Magway is the most popular in Myanmar.

When we don't know the make up we use only thanatkha. It can protect UV and support our skins. We get it thanatkha tree trunk. Everybody's house has thanatkha. Everybody ues it kids, yougth, old people and married. Now         we product the makeup with the thanatkha. To say simply in thingyam is watering each other. The flower padauk is bloom in once a year. Some people visit in famous place in thingyam like bangan. ..etc. . Our family visit alwaly vist somewhere in thingyam.  The surprsing thing is there has the thingyam in Thiland too. To sum up all like thingym very much. It so long we didn't celebrities in thingyam.
