Sand Play

This child is building castles using sand. He is using critical thinking to pour water into the bucket with the sand before emptying the sand onto the ground. By doing this the sand will have the shape of a bucket. So many things can be created from this ordinary sand, for example, mansions, trees, people, etc.
If we observe the children while they are playing in the different corners of our classrooms we will see that creativity is everywhere.

Here is when we allow the children to think critically and create their own drawings. They are exposed to open-ended art experiences at this time. they make their own connections and create unique ideas. They consider if to add more drawings and how many colors they will use.
As early childhood educators, we need to remember that a child's drawing is his creativity and not what we view the drawing to be. Hence whatever a child draws must be considered his expressed ideas. "Creativity is everywhere."

These children are actively involved in water play by using different play items. creativity can be seen with each child using something different in their own unique way. Two of them are pouring into other containers while others are playing with water boats and other water play toys.
Valerie Strauss (9, November 2019) stated, "Kids need first-hand engagement- they need to manipulate objects physically, engage all their senses, and move and interact with 3-dimensional world."
It is so creative to see that so many different concepts can derive from this form of creative play. For example, quantity, sink, float, relationship building and symbolic play.

This child is painting a scene of her choice. She included flowers of different colors. Some of the colors were mixed to bring out the color that she wanted. This picture probably can make connections to her outside experience. She ensured that she used the entire sheet of paper and it can be seen how she is enjoying painting an idea by herself.
It is so impressive to see the children use their imaginations and express themselves in the form of creativity.

Children at our early childhood institution enjoy exploring with the dough to create unique ideas for themselves. Here she tells herself that she can do it by stockpiling the dough of different sizes. They sometimes come up with such unusual ideas by telling themselves that if she uses different sizes they will stay on each other.
This here shows that creativity is everywhere. She used different colors and expressed the idea that she wanted.
