Royce, Egypt has been called the gift of the Nile all the water for drinking, bathing, and watering crops from the great river. The wind blew from the north to the south so boats could float downstream. The hieroglyph, khenti, to travel south, was a boat with a sail khedive to travel north was a boat with the sail down. Ancient Egypt was divided into upper and lower Egypt. North, or lower Egypt is aa delta a flat green area of marsh and grassland. Egyptians still grow crops and raise livestock on the banks of the nile as they have been doing for more than 7,000 years.
