The Treaty of Paris Signed!

A treaty is signed in Paris and ends the American Revolutionary War. An agreement is negotiated between Great Britain and the United States which recognizes Americas request for Independence. A strong point mentioned in the treaty was the securing of American fisherman's right of access to the Grand Banks and other traditional Canadian waters. Great Britain also gives up all territory between the Allegheny Mountains which doubles the size of the United States. The British troops were ordered to leave the United States after the signing. The British also returned all of the enslaved prisoners. This was a huge step for the colonists' now that they double the ;and they had before, and they have more rights.

Loyalists Thoughts On The Treaty of Paris

Loyalists were unhappy with the Treaty of Paris showing the United States independence. After all, they were loyal to Britain before and are still loyal. The loyalists did not think that the colonists' would last long without Britain. The United States didn't have experience with making a new government and loyalists new that. They don't support the Treaty of Paris or the Declaration of Independence because of their loyalty to Britain. 65,000 to 70,000 loyalists fled to other parts of Britain after the war. "The United States won't last long without the strong British army protecting them." says anonymous loyalist.

Most people agreed that it was best to separate from Britain due to everything that the British has done and all the intolerable acts that the British have passed. 15% of loyalists fled to other parts of Britain after the signing. Due to Thomas Paine's Common Sense article, people agreed that the best course of action was to separate from Britain and now that it has happened, most people are happy, but skeptical. We don't know how the government is going to turn out. "I'm glad that our days with Britain are over, but I am skeptical about how the government will turn out," says American Patriot
