Roe V Wade (1973)

A court hearing in 1963, Roe V. Wade, ruled abortion as legal. It struck down laws restricting abortion. The court claimed that the government could not prohibit it as it is a constitutional violation on women's choices and privacy. However, today, Roe V. Wade was overturned, allowing state governments to determine the legal status of abortion.

Stagflation (70's)

Stagflation is the value of economic recession. There's no increase of income while there's a rise of inflation. The population was continuously growing, and unemployment was rising. OPEC had imposed an oil embargo on the US, since they supported Israel in the Yom Kippur War. This led to the US decreasing the speed (MPH) on roads and advising them to use their cars less. It was a hard time for the economy.

Watergate Scandal (1974)

President Nixon's reelection group, CREEP, were caught breaking into the Democratic HQ in Watergate. They were discovered to have been tapping government phones and stealing documents and trying to gain access of the opposing party's campaign for presidency. Nixon denied the allegations. Before his impeachment, he resigned and was later pardoned by Gerald Ford

Secret Bombing of Cambodia (1973)

The United States led massive bombing in Cambodia, who was neutral to the Vietnam war, and in April of 1970, U.S. troops invaded in effort to get rid of Vietnamese communist bases in the country. Because of the secret bombing, protests erupted in the country in college campuses, which led to the Kent State Massacre where 4 students were shot and killed. The secret bombing revealed and provoked distrust on the federal government.

Camp David Accords (1978)

The Camp David Accords is a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt. After many difficult and intense negotiations, both countries were able to become to an agreement. It was also the first Arab Country, Egypt, to recognize Israel into existence. The treaty finally brought peace between enemies and proved that conflicts could be solved.

However, it was an attempt to End U.S. involvement, but the US had already reached the point of no return.

Title IX (1972)

Passed with the Education Amendments of 1972, Title lX promoted gender equality in education and sports. It also prohibited discrimination over genders. It changed education system forever and allowed for the equal rights for both Men and Women in education. To this day, women and men can participate in school and sports, in the US atleast.

Nixon had been in China, growing their friendship with Mao, which later pressured the Soviet Union to negotiate with the United States.
