Assalamualaikum and greetings,

My name is Nurul Alis Elyana Binti Zulkefli. I’m 23 years old. I was born in Kelantan and raised in Kedah. I’m a third years student of University Malaysia Kelantan in Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Tourism). Thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself.

One thing I want to learn for the next three months to advance my career opportunities or business is how to market the product or service to attract more people to come again and again to buy the product or service with a limited budget. Although social media is one of the marketing platforms that can help to promote the business but it still has its own shortcomings for entrepreneurs that don’t have many followers. Because of that, I hope for the next three months, I can learn the other ways that can help any entrepreneur to market their business with a limited budget.

The name of the video:
Creative thinking – how to get out of the box and generate ideas: Giovanni Corazza at TEDxRoma

Link to the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEusrD8g-dM

The name of the speaker:
Giovanni Corazza

Speaker's experience/qualifications:

Founder of the Marconi Institute for Creativity, on the necessity and dangers of expertise, balancing creative ideas with business principles, and how even non-human organisms and non-living things can be creative. He started The Institute for Creativity almost 10 years ago. He is an engineer working in creativity and innovation.

Description of the video content:
This video is about creative thinking which is thinking out of the box and how generate ideas. It was targeted employers and entrepreneurs. In this video, there are 6 questions that we need to ask before we can get creative thinking. The first thing to ask is why should you really go out of the box? To think creatively, to go out of the box, is not a luxury. It’s a necessity for us, and for our dignity as human beings. The second question is which box are we talking about? We cannot think out of our minds. It’s a boundary between our minds. The boundary between what we know and what we haven’t still or yet thought about. The third question is how do we go out of the box? We need a little bit of divergent information to cross the borders within our minds from what we know to what we haven’t yet thought about. The next question is where do you go once you’re out of the box? Look for alternatives and not for the correct answer because when you think creatively there’s no single correct answer. The next question is what is the value of that? We have to look for the match between a new idea and our initial drive, our initial focus, or evaluate the idea per se for its own value and maybe see that that’s something that can solve another problem, which was not yours. The last question is when is it a good idea to challenge everybody around you in your working environment? You need to allow the existence of divergent information and irrelevant information to come in. You have to mix and match different disciplines and use metaphors in the organization. Only, in that case, you will allow the environment which is creative to be really prone to the generation of new ideas.

Personal reaction to the video :
The video and the talk that have been given by Giovanni Corazza were valuable to me. The part of his talk that I remember the best is the 6 questions that we need to ask. And also, the opening of his talk which is “easy is difficult”. It is easy for people to say to think out of the box and be creative but actually, it is very hard to do. To have that creative thinking we need to practice and we need to know how to get out of the box, where to go, and how to come back inside the box because that’s where we live. His talk does affect me to not be afraid to try and think out of the box because when you think creatively there is no single correct answer and there are many possible alternatives.

Self-awareness means being aware of one's own characteristics, behaviors, and feelings. Self-awareness is the skill to concentrate on yourself as well as how your behaviors, thoughts, and emotions connect to your internal standards. You can objectively analyze yourself, control your emotions, connect your actions with all your values, and clearly know how others see you if you're very self-aware.

There are two types of self-awareness which are internal self-awareness and external self-awareness. Internal self-awareness represents how clearly we see our own values, passions, aspirations, fit with our environment, reactions, and impact on others. External self-awareness means understanding how other people view us and people who know how others see them are more skilled at showing empathy and taking others’ perspectives.
