William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in mids of 1564, was a poet, playwright and English actor regarded as the greatest English-language writer and the most influential playwright in the world. He is often called the national poet of England and the "Bard of the Avon." From his works, including those in collaboration, there remain to this day 38 pieces, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few sparse verses. However, they are still disputed. Shakespeare produced a large part of his work between 1590 and 1613. His first works were mainly comedies and works based on historical events and characters. The romantics acclaimed the genius (Shakespeare) , and the Victorians idolized him as a hero.
Some researchers believe that Shakespeare is not really the author of the works themselves, discussing the question of Shakespeare's authorship and identidy .

The stories told in Shakespeare´s plays are not original.
Rather, Shakespeare sourced his plots and characters from historical accounts and classical texts.
Many of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies were written in the early 1600s and would have been performed at the Globe Theatre.
The Shakespeare Authorship Debate has been raging for years – mainly fuelled by a distinct lack of documentary evidence on both sides. Essentially, various groups of scholars over the years have attempted to debunk William Shakespeare, the son of a glove maker from Stratford-upon-Avon, as the real author of the plays and sonnets.

The most likely candidate (other that Shakespeare himself!) is Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford.

Shakespeare understood the human soul as no other author ever understood. The reason for this may have been the circumstances in which he wrote his work. In the 16th century, Shakespeare was very popular and staged his plays for all kinds of people. Shakespeare perform for men, prostitutes, cat-lovers, and artisans whom crowded the theaters for fun. Entertaining this audience, not orderly or silent, was no easy task, and the way Shakespeare found it was to play characters on the stage with whom everyone could identify.
Shakespeare wrote the greatest classics of the theater and created a gallery of characters that fascinated humanity even centuries after his death.
Most literary critics today agree that we continue to live under the impact of the work of the English bard. To call him a genius, therefore, is to do him justice.

His entire work, written in 20 years, is present on stages and screens from around the world. Almost four centuries after his death, William Shakespeare is one of the most staged playwrights on the planet.
