Romeo will stay if his lover does not want him to leave, even if it puts his own life at risk. This proves how much Romeo really loves Juliet. He begins to taunt death by announceing welcome death and staying longer with Juliet. Really poetic language.

The night into day transition is show through the discussion between Romeo and Juliet. Juliet is sure that a nightingale is singing out on the pomegranate tree which would suggest that it is night. However, Romeo announces how he believes that it is a lark. This would assume that it is dawn and a new day is about to begin. if it was night Romeo would be able to stay, but if it were dawn Romeo would have to start making his decent.

An example used in this extract of descriptive imagery is image of both night and day and light and dark. These can be used to describe how Juliet feels with and without Romeo. Her life is dark and almost nothing when Romeo is not there and Romeo is like the light in the night to Juliet.

The night and day transition is important as it is a timer for how long Romeo and Juliet can be together. If dawn breaks then Romeo's life is at risk as if he is caught then he will more than surly be killed. However, when it is night they are harder to spot, so they can share their love in peace, without their lifes being at risk or any interuptions.
