I Decided that I would go with the swirley one, mainly as I felt that it looked quite nice, and went well with the theme that I had planned for my website, which was flowers. 
I also picked out colours for the colour pallet for the website. I found this difficult as I kept forgetting to add the colours before clicking the next box, which meant I had to keep finding the colours again. I got the hang of it eventually though.
I tested out different styles and colours for the menu bar for the website, I found it difficult to choose different colours for the 'regular', 'hover', and 'selected' pages, without the website being overly colourful. I found it hard to choose pictures for the homepage, as I didn't want to use up lots of pictures for the rest of my website, and wanted the pictures to go nicely with the colours on the homepage. Another thing that I have found difficult with the homepage is knowing what sort of text to add, as I don't want to just repeat the text that I have for my 'about' page, but don't really have a lot that I have to say.
I have tested out a couple of different layouts for my 'about' page, and decided that it is best to have the text on the left and the picture on the right, so that the viewer doesn't have to scroll down the page alot to see either one or the other.

I decided to split my photographs between a 'flowers' page and an 'Iceland' page, to make things less crowded, and easier to navigate. I tried using one of the gallery templates from wix to display the photos for the flowers, but found that with this, it would resize and shape all of the pictures differently to make them fit into the gallery, which cropped out parts of the photos, and there didnt seem to be a way to individualy alter how each picture in the gallery was displayed. Because of this, I decided that it would be best to just separatly add each of my pictures to the page individually, so that I could control their sizes and shapes without them being automatially cropped. Unfortunately, this was a little more time consuming, but not too difficult. I tried out different animations for the photos to show up on the website, to make things look a little less bland. I found that some things looked a little over the top and unprofessional- such as the 'bounce in' one- but the 'fade in' one looked better. I managed to make it so that there was a delay between photos showing, to make things a bit more interesting.
For my 'Iceland' page, I found that it was easier to use the gallery templates, as most of the pictures were of the same shape/size so they fitted together well without being cropped/re-shaped. ]]> 2017-04-17 15:05:37 UTC https://padlet.com/katie_strevens/sj9156nveg24/wish/166563209 https://padlet.com/katie_strevens/sj9156nveg24/wish/166997505 My website is fairly similar to a lot of websites that are created on Wix, as it has the menu bar across the top of the page, and has photos displayed on the homepage. The two Wix websites that I deconstructed for task two had very large pictures displayed on the homepage, and they were sort of used like a background mural type thing. My website is a bit different from this as I had a small gallery on the home page instead of one large picture. I feel that the problem with this is that it I had then displayed the same pictures again for my photo pages, and this would have been less noticeable if there had been just one repeated photo. The websites that I researched had usually had a different page for each of their photo categories, for example 'Jenn Clara Photography' had separate categories for 'Love', 'Lifestyle', and 'yoga', which each had a page. I had two pages for my photos, which I split into 'Flowers' and 'Iceland'.
