            Alarms were all well and good, but if the woman in the hat                  came looking for her, a trap might be even better. 

            The walls of the room weren't real walls, but file drawers.     She could open them at will now that she was inside. Moving with confidence, Rose opened one of the drawers. The instant she reached inside, an earsplitting alarm began to bray. 
                 The child who was no longer a child had been lying in wait for her. She had laid a trap, she had meant to kill Rose.... and considering Rose's state of mental vulnerability, she probably could.

This is an important paragraph because it serves as proof that Abra's telekinetic abilities are real, and the group of murderers that she warns about do actually exist and commit the atrocities that Abra claimed. 

"They sat on the bench outside the library for forty-five minutes, with the autumn sun on their faces(King 233)." This is significant to the story because Dan and Abra finally meet. They have been communicating with telekinetic messages for a long period of time. It is important to Abra's safety to associate with Dan, because he also posses telekinetic powers. 

"...Killing..(King 181)."
This is when Dan receives one of his first messages from Abra. Abra has seen visions of the True Knot killing Bradley Trevor to consume his essence. I choose this song because it is about one man's declining mental state. This is what is happening to Rose the Hat, the main antagonist of the book. Rose has been in a state of mental decay ever since Abra infiltrated her mind, and many of the True Knot's members started to die. The mental state of the whole group is declining, but Rose is doing so at a mush faster rate. First, it is used when Dan explains how he overcame the horrors he faced in his childhood after living in the Overlook Hotel. He was visited by many evil spirits who could have hurt him, but he found the will power to defeat them.
