If I had to describe myself through a song, it would be “Se Sufre Pa’ Merecer” by Máxima Ventaja. I really connect with the lyric, “Me miraron pasar en la troca sumando por todo el bulevar,” because it reflects a part of who I am. I drive a lowered 2003 Chevy S10. I’ve loved unique cars and trucks ever since I was little. Even my teachers back home had the coolest cars, which probably influenced me. Now, my students get excited whenever they see my truck parked near the playground. It’s one of those little things that make my connection with them even more special. Now, alongside that, I have a sound system in my truck, which means my neighbors hate me.

My current occupation is I am a full time TA at an elementary school and I help teach pre-k. I also work part time at sonic drive-in. I also do volunteer work at my church in the kids department, I am in a lead position for pre-k through first grade.

I am born and raised in Brownfield Texas. I currently still live here.

A song to describe myself would have to be ‘Every little step I take’ by Bobby Brown. I honestly struggled to find a song to describe me haha, but I picked this song because he says “ every little step I take you will be there” , and I like to be there all the time for anyone in need or who needs a friend or company or help.

My name is Edwina Okorie, and I was born in Sierra Leone and raised in Fairfax, Virginia. I currently work at ECISD as an Instructional Aide. I am married and blessed with two wonderful boys. Five years ago, I moved to Odessa, where I have been building my life and family. A song that describes me is Toast by Koffee. I try to live a life of gratitude, appreciating both the good and the challenging moments. I give thanks to my Creator, Jehovah, and strive to focus on my blessings by making thoughtful choices that help my family and myself. I believe my purpose on Earth is to honor God and spread joy to those around me, including myself. In my free time, I love to dance, sing, cook healthy meals, travel, and spend quality time with my family. I am excited to get to know all of you and share this learning journey together.

I’m from Odessa, and I’m also currently living here. Odessa has always been home for me, and I enjoy being part of the local community. I currently work as a paraprofessional in specialized classrooms at Permian High School. My job allows me to work closely with students who need extra support, and it has been a very meaningful experience for me. Being in the classroom has helped me grow both professionally and personally, and it has reinforced my passion for education and helping students succeed. A song that describes me would be “Eye of the Tiger” because it represents strength, resilience, and determination. I’ve faced challenges in my life, but I always try to keep pushing forward and stay focused on my goals.

Something else I’d like to share is that I have two kids, who motivate me every day to work hard and keep improving myself. Coming back to school hasn’t been easy, but balancing work, family, and school has taught me a lot about perseverance and time management. I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and getting to know everyone in this class.
