She was a brilliant chemist and physicist, whose brilliance was awarded with a Nobel prize in Physics in 1903, the first woman to ever receive this honor.
The most known accomplishment of Marie Curie has to be the discovery of radioactivity, and radioactive properties of radium and polonium, the two elements she discovered and also named. 
During World War I, Marie Curie saw the opportunity to assist battlefield surgeon on the front lines by establishing mobile radiology centers. In the first years of the war, she has established 20 of these mobile units, as well as over 200 radiological units at field hospitals.
After the war, she toured the United States to raise funds for further research on radium.

During her careere she was arrested for drug possesion and was senteced to 15 years in prison. Around the year 1959 she escaped to mexico with her four-year-old daughter. Another thing that happened in 1959 is that she was hired by 20th Century Fox studio to teach actress Joan Collins dance like a stripper for her movie.
