At this place, some of us got a scoop of ice cream and we asked the employee there for information about the location of the ice cream parlor as well as his personal access to the neighborhood. But he wasn't nearly willing to talk to us and was rather unfriendly, but we didn't give up and then met an elderly lady who was willing to give us more information about the Annenviertel and the surrounding area:

Worth seeing in the district is the Volksgarten as well as the Peace Stupa which represents a peace monument to the Buddhists. The lady pointed out to us that you should definitely avoid the Volksgarten in the evening because then dodgy figures would be on the way. We also learned that the Annenstraße used to be a very nice and popular shopping street. This has declined quite a bit in recent years, especially in the direction of the central train station, as unfortunately more and more cheap shops can be found in the street.

One reason it's great to live in the area, especially for young people, is the good public transport and the location, as almost everything can be reached on foot or by bike from the city centre. Because of the location, there are plenty of opportunities for people to socialise and get to do things.

We chose the dürüm because Griesplatz and its surroundings are defined by a high density of gastronomy, making it a true culinary hotspot. For many, Griesplatz is synonymous with great food, and its diverse culinary scene has become its trademark.

An interview with the barista

why do you choose to live here?

The first and most important reason was my girlfriend living here and i moved in with her. After that i realized that as a student at the KF University this area is the perfect living space. I can easily walk or ride my bicycle to uni, there are a lot of food places to get a quick lunch and a lot of opportunities to work.

what is special about living here?

a lot of uni students live and spend their time here. so meeting people and making new friends is super easy. you can grab breakfast before class at a cafe, meet for lunch or go for drinks in the evening. so many spots to see and so many different people, it all really makes it worth living here.
