The Art Hive is open to ALL students, ALL faculty, ALL employees, and to ALL those connected to Sheridan. Participants will be encouraged to show and share their creative skills in a supportive studio environment.

During our online Art Hives, participants are encouraged to join us on Zoom to work from home with any materials they may have to participate in the creative making process. Virtually any media or approach works, beyond typical arts and crafts, sewing, journaling, cooking, repairing, etc.

We share ideas, techniques, and engage in radical hospitality, in a safe and welcoming environment. We focus on individual and collaborative inquiry through the arts.

WHY:

The Creative Campus Initiatives require a Safe Space for Art Exploration in the Community (a space that is non-judgemental and where ‘the act of making’ is non-competitive).
The Sheridan Art Hive adopts a model of social inclusion for students, faculty, staff, administrators and the community to make art, craft, design and to create together
To Focus on individual and collaborative inquiry through the arts
To Honour diversity, aging, social change and social justice
To Support both students’ and employees’ interdisciplinary collegiality and learning
To Attend to the arts as integral to healthy well-being, promoting resilience through self-care, mindfulness and relational connection.
To Promote innovative experiential learning/doing/making and sharing
To Encourage Eco-Arts, with a focus on sustainability and reuse of materials
