There is something so specific about this style of neon, technologically advanced yet completely dystopian and foreboding area of media that has such an undeniable charm to me. While I much appreciate the insightful, learning-based format of Pocket, I can also concur that I am quite the visually-stimulated social media user, as many of us are. Specifically in regards to this project, I found it definitively more interesting and enjoyable to browse through the various visual media on offer over on Pinterest rather than taking the risk on Pocket to read an article that could either be genuinely fascinating or genuinely sluggish. Maybe it's the 'instant grat' appeal of Pinterest, where all of the enjoyment exists within a quick look, but I personally am much more attracted to visual stimulants. Additionally, Pocket was definitely more difficult to navigate and had a less comprehensive interface, with a lot less content to offer. Any big fan of cyberpunk recognises its roots in Japanese culture and heritage. It is a heavy influence for the genre and many of the iconic locations across the country have had deep visual and cultural inspirations on the branch of media.     • I chose to rewrite the privacy policy for a newer social media app that has been growing in popularity: BeReal. The app sends a notification once per day wherein you and your friends must capture an image of exactly where and what you’re doing at that given moment, in order to “Be Real”. What I appreciate about the app to begin with is how safe, secure and less telegraphed it is compared to most of our largest social media apps. That said, its privacy policy is quite wordy and contains a lot of information that may be considered redundant to the reader. In this version, I’ve simplified much of the over-complicated wording, highlighted the sections regarding safety and data privacy and ensured that the policy is both easily understandable and all-encompassing.
