imade the bow by folding a piece of paper in two different ways and then pinched the middle and stuck it down. i decied to make a bow because twirl is a synnonm of revolution and twirl made me think of girly things like bows and ribons

i foled a star and it remined me of my mind map and how spurs were on it and i wanted to make the star able to spin and REVOLVE so i made a stick out of paper and pirsed it through the middle, i then stuck pieses of tap on ether side to keep it from falling off

i stared by using the select tool to select a lock that was in one of my photo i then copped and pasted it onto another page i then duplicated it and mured the layers, creating a chainmail link of locks. i then cut out the middle of another image and moved the chainmail onto the page making sure the chainmail layer was underneath the circle layer. i then set the chainmail layer to overlay and added static onto the circle layer by going into filters then going to noise.

I did photo editing with old photos i had of an old pocket watch i had taken a part. i like the final out come because of the grungy textures and sickly colours but i didn't enjoy the process because of the finickiness of working with a mouse i also found it difficult to find the tools i need but i believe its due to lack of familiarity with the software.

i wanted to add a shadow to the circle layer so i went into FX and added a drop shadow, lastly i adjusted the colours by clicking on adjustments and playing around with the hue until i was happy with my out come.

As a class we looked at flags and banners and how they hold meaning and represent a cause, i decided to look at the Brazilian flag because it was one of the few flags with out red. i found out that the blue represented the night sky, the yellow rhombus represented gold, the green represented Brazil's plants and foliage and that it had 27 stars to represent all of its states.

to create these images i had to type words into a engine and the Ai would create images based off the words.

because Ai can only copy what its seen i think its a good way to get inspiriting for pieces because you can give it a general idea.

but i don't think it such ever be used to create a stand alone image because it isn't your art, it is an amalgamation of others art and you can't pinpoint the artists responsible so i don't think it should be profitable.

i also think for a story telling purpose its not very good because it doesn't matter how many words you use it can never recreate exactly what you are thinking.

At the beginning i was practicing drawing while using a mouse. i started by creating the line art and then on a layer below i coloured it in. i would change the size of the brush to fill in big areas and little details. when using illustrator i worked in layers first putting Down my lines then painting in the colour i kept these on different layers

if i import an image or drawing i did into illustrator i can colour it but pressing trace image and fiddling with the black and white toggle i can get the line art and i can colour it by working on the layer below.i used the gradient tool to create the transition in the brush strokes.

then then used the recolour tool to play around with the colours. in the original i purposely used complimentary colours to make the spider stand out and i found it really interesting to see what other complimentary colours looked like i found that the yellow want very affective because the coolers were desaturated creating a muddy sickly colour.

i wanted to look at the idea of revelation and not a specifice movement. i looked at the loud fighting and riots that come to mind but i also looked at the quieter individual of a revolution like not changing your principle even when those around you have different ones. i liked this more so i stuck with it and got the theme of "being content in madness.

for this exercise we had to do something revolutionary, thing the we don't really do so i decided to do some special effects make up on my self i've never done this before and i don't use make up so this was a very different thing for me to experiment with. i first stared by using latex to stick Styrofoam balls to my hand to create a disgusting boil look. i used a make up sponge to give the latex a more textured skin-like look. i wanted it to look like my hand was melting so i created strings of latex to attach in between my fingers i then used ink to dye parts of my had, i focused on the latex parts and joints.

i really liked how the final out come looked i was really happy with the liquified black tar look and i think i want to explore this more in my project. i think its such a good representation for madness because it is this slippery feeling of losing yourself and all your emotions mixing together creating feelings of anger, joy, sadness and disgust. after doing so many poses the latex in between my index and middle finger began to peel off

for my response i wanted to think out side the box by using any thing but a paint brush like a popsicle stick and a piece of string. I would first splatter the paint onto the paper and use the stick to scrap the paint around. I found the splattering to be very effective because of the texture it added. to show movement I would flick my wrist. i liked how splattering created a messy look I think it would make a good way to depict madness because of the fluid nature. I would like to incorporate this fluidity into my interpretation of zombies

Emrick was an office worker before the virus appeared he wanted to be a teacher but never got the grades and didn't marry because the economy was too bad, when the virus out break began he was locked in his office block and only left after food ran out during this time his sanity crumbled and despair swallowed him he didn't care if the zombies got him that was until he found a scared little girl. she was completely alone i was a mystery how she survived on her own. they left the city and found a meadow with a tree house and a babbling brook. they settled there learning to forage food and survive off the land creating a safe paradise for the two.

Initial resurch on the zombie apocalypse genre

The zombie apocalypse is a beloved trope in all media; movies, books, games, graphic novels, you name it. I often focused on a group of survivors and focused on the effect to the apocalypse. Most have a bleak out look and often have tragic deaths, which is only heightened with the trope of found family. Found family is a very common trope and most well known is a father-daughter relationship, this can be seen in tell tails ‘ The Walking Dead’ and naughty dogs ‘The Last Of Us’ where an older man finds a young girl who is unable to protect herself and essentially adopts her. Tragically this ends with one of the two dying. I think I would like to include this trope but give it a happy twist.

Another reason Zombie media is so beloved is because of the zombies and how varied they are from being a result from witchcraft to a virus to a fungus taking over your body when you die. This means that even tho they are the same thing zombies may have different attributes giving lots of creative freedom to create a menacing theat to the survivors.

Zombies can also be used as a tool to convey a message, like being a metaphor for greed or to show the dark side of humanity with out a government.

Tony Moore is the illustrator of the walking dead comics and his style perfectly visualises Robert Kirkman's story, the grittiness of the art comes from the splatters and scratchy lines which conveys how terrible the world the characters live in. I also find that the bold shadows and the angular character design is very expressive which is very effective at telling a story. however what makes is so perfect is his skill at visual story telling like the facial expressions, body language and composition.

finding the exact colours in the concept art is difficult and the colours you do find are too thick or the wrong texture or they don't go with the others so to just go with the fabric i liked and change the colours in the art. i think these colours work so well is because it follows a split complimentary colour scheme and it has strong contrast; the blue contrasts because of how dark it is and the pink and green work well because they are complimentary. i also think these colours work better because it shows how young she is having bright colours.

i wanted to convey the boredom, isolation and frustration he was feeling through wide shots and closeups, the scene shows Emrick sitting in his room and looking at an empty can of food and throwing it and punching his wall. a story bored is often used by camera people, actors, animators and editors. they are a great tool for organising the story and to save money, any video media can use them such as; movies, tv shows, advertisements and game cut scenes

I'm very happy with how she came out i like how easy it is to pose her and how the different accessory come together to give her lots of depth. There are things i would have liked to add like her welly boots i didn't have time to make them and i would have liked to. i also would have liked to make the latex work however i don't have enough experience or knowledge to make it look skin like. Lastly i would have liked to make the face plats more complimentary to the head to make the line less noticeable.

Making the Doll

To make the body i created an armature wire base out of wire and coated it in glue soaked muslin cloth, i than coated it in a layer of latex but i didn't like the colour of it so i pealed it off.

after the body was made i could then start work on the head i wanted the doll to have different expression so i made multiple face plates that would come on and off by using small magnets. i wanted the head to be able to come on and off to make putting on her top easier.

The Zombies

deciding what the zombies are like is the most important thing in a zombie apocalypse story because they are the rule you as a writer have to abide by, if you tell the reader that the zombies cant climb ladders but in a chase seen they do for plot convenience the reader will feel cheated so its important to keep in mind the rule you've set.

With that in mind i began designing, for the infection to spread the black ooz must enter the body this could be through and open wound, contaminated water, contaminated food or prolonged exposure to the gas produced (this could be by breathing it in, or not wearing eye protection. They actively seek to infect others but inflicting wounds with there ooz soaked claws. if action is taken fast enough amputation is a viable means to stop the infection.

Making the Cloths

For the cloths i had looked at other clothing patterns and eyeballed the size it didn't mater if they were too big because i wanted that because it would make her look cuter, i could also size it down if i wanted too by stitching the seem which i did with the trousers.

her wig was made of paper and the most finicky to make i originally wanted to use pritt-stick glue to get a flatter effect however it dried to slowly and the hair wouldn't stay where i wanted it to so used hot glue instead. To make sure the wig sat securely on the head i had attached a piece of elastic that would hook under the dolls head to keep it in place.

Trip to Whitechapel and Technicolor Studio

i was un able to get any images form the Technicolor studio do to it having some sensitive information like film scenes from unreleased movies but was able to get images from the Whitchapel gallery and see some of Peter Kennards work. i was also able to see some amazing street art.

Although i saw some really nice works i found it difficult to find any that linked to my project or that was in the style i wanted however i did find inspiration from Kennard for some world building aspects. Kennard often uses gas mask in his art and that made me think about when Emrick and Dawn would where a mask. They would need to scavenge for thing snd then would wear gas masks to not breath in the gas the zombies produce.

for this work shop we had to cut glass bu scoring it with a scorrer soaked in oil and then pulling it and snapping it with pliers you would then organised the pieces on a clear glass base. my piece was inspired be an orange tree, there wasn't a square glass base so i used a rectangular piece. it s hard to create a round score line and event harder to cut so i would cut the corners of a square piece until it was round-ish, from square to hexagon to octagon. i like the piece but its shape and linups would need more considerating to make it something i would consider for my final piece which is soming posable be would be tedious

For this animation, I used Adobe animate software which is vector-based. to create this I drew out the background in adobe illustrate and imported it to adobe animate I did this with all the things I wanted to move individually. To get the arm to move I position the arms to where I wanted them to be in the keyframes and used the tweeting too to fill in the in-between frames. For this animation I didn't have a plan I was making it up as I went along I think this made me work very, next time I'll have a plan but I don't think I'll be using anymore animation this project
