In Greece the religion with jews, christians, and muslims had no sacred writings such as the bible and they had no commandments. They worshipped the 12 gods in olympus. The gods showed human like qualities such as hate, love, and jealousy. 
Their political life was very simple, there was a lawmaking body called the Assembly which passed laws and elected generals. 1 out of 5 of the population could participate in the government. Most of the positions in the government were paid, so even the poor citizens could hold office. 
Greeks valued education because they believed that human beings could be perfected. Socrates dedicated himself to reason, truth, and virtue. He also believed that true happiness depends on the goodness of ones soul.
