Line 4 in "Tell all the truth but tell it slant" means that telling the truth can be a big surprise. Line 3 in "Because I could not stop for death" means that the author is cutting off most people better than herself. Line 3 supports the theme for "Because I could not stop for death" by showing that the author has made the decision that she wants to be alone.
