Over two thirds of individuals from 20-24 live with their parents. The French culture seems to have a heavy basis in family relations.
2.) The traditional idea of marriage is changing. 60% of first-time births are now with unmarried couples. Only after living together for a while and having a few kids does this statistic change.

I feel like on social level, there's quite a bit of similarities.

French culture is undergoing similar changes that we see in American culture. In France, as in America, more and more people are living together before marriage, and having children out of wedlock, which is common today, but was scandalous in the past.

Our text tells us that in France it is common for people to remain at home with their parents until their mid-twenties. This trend also exists in our culture. Is this perhaps something that is traditionally French, or is it that the same social developments that are altering our culture also altering France's?

The type of family tradition within France is changing in comparison to the past. The statistics show that more couples live together and have children before they actually get married. Therefore, most couples tend to marry later after they have children as a result. Although the marriage rate is declining along with a rising divorce rate, family is still the most important value within culture. In comparison to the United States, many individuals would consider having children before marriage an oddity as it typically does not surround the type of custom that we have instead.

Although French people marry latter then American's, its interesting to note that in both countries women tend to marry younger then men.
