She is very stubborn. Not a problem we can solve. Just let her deal with it herself or let someone deal with it.

After listening to Positive Voice: She may be direct but that's a good trait too. She does show the desire to better connect with her friends but she just needs to learn how. We should talk to her and guide her on how to connect to people. No one likes to be alone. We can overcome this as a class. The students trust me. We can do this!!!!!

She's truthful. Maybe family issues? Is it a signal for help? If I ask the right qn maybe I will help her. She has an intention to help, she wants to get the lifeskill of socialisation. Just needs time. Should talk to her, give baby steps. Talk to her friends to give her a bit of a chance - class needs to be united. No one wants to be alone, but as a class if you can overcome it would be great. See the better side of her. I think you can do it. You can be the enactor - they trust you.

What would I do: I would lean towards positive bc it offers a constructive way forward. Negative thoughts require filtering and re-perspectivising.

The group selected Scenario A.
Most of the negative thoughts centralized on the ideas of Over-Generalization and Labelling. If the student has behaved in such a difficult manner, it is undoubtedly that she would continue to be this difficult in other areas. (over-generalization). There has been multiple times of labelling the girl 'shy introvert' with a dismissive tone. The negative voice even suggested passing the issue over to the counsellor to solve the issue.
The positive voice focused on persuading the teacher to give the student more time. With time and more encouragement, the student would be able to be able to integrate into the class. With a more inclusive environment/classmates, the student will gradually be able to open up and learn how to gel with the group.

The teacher's response naturally gravitated towards positivity thinking. As the negative thoughts came in, the teacher was able to filter out the irrelevant thoughts and focused on solving the problem. That being said, the idea of including the counsellor into the conversation may be a good idea. The student may benefit from the presence of another adult.

After listening to both the positive and negative voices, I think it is easy to immediately be angry and frustrated with the student and wonder why can't they just come to school on time, why is it so difficult to follow school rules.

But having time to calm down and listening to the positive voice, I think we have time to think about how to help the student, what are the steps that we can take to assist the student. I think as teachers, it is our inclination to help the students
