         <description><![CDATA[<div>The island's of Hawaii are isolated from the main land being about 2,500 miles away. Being so spread out, this is a main reason for there being so many species. Hawaiian birds didn't grow up with any particular adaption because there were no real predators. Hawaii's original native species are a bat, a seal, and other reptiles, amphibians, and insects. The island's tree snail is the  most prized native species.</div>]]></description>

Reason being, its primary food source was vertebrates, and all small mammals.
