<title>Learning disabilities effect people in many ways thus making them more vulnerable. A disability can affect how a person processes information and also effects their ability to communicate effectively with others. Many people who suffer with disabilities struggle to understand many aspects of day to day living especially in regards to: “coping independently, understanding new or complex information and learning new skills”. The world health organisation and the World Bank: “suggest that more than a billion people experience disabilities”. This provides an estimation on the number of people suffering with disabilities who are have potential to be vulnerable. <title>Key Information about Asylum SeekersMany people believe that Asylum seekers come to the UK to claim benefits. In fact, most know nothing about welfare benefits before they arrive and had no expectation that they would receive financial support. (Refugee Council)Almost all asylum seekers are not allowed to work in the UK. From a limited income of up to £5.00 per day, many families have to pay for basics such as clothing, food and personal hygiene products such as nappies. (Refugee Council)Asylum seekers are not able to choose the property that they will live in. The property is allocated by the local council and is often a ‘hard to let’ property that other people do not wish to live in. (Refugee Council)More than a fifth of asylum seeking women have experienced sexual violence in the UK. (Refugee Council)References:Refugee Council, Chance or Choice?
