Things I did this summer

Over the summer, I spent a majority of my days getting outside and enjoying nature through a variety of activities including baseball, golf, fishing, and swimming. Sports took up a large portion of my time because I was playing for two baseball teams, as well as summer basketball for the high school. I also enjoyed spending my time with my friends on the golf course and at each other’s houses. We played lots of poker, enjoyed time on the boat, and swam. Finally, I spent a few days on a fishing trip in Canada with my Dad, Grandpa, and younger brother.

My name is Rhys Yawn, I was born and raised in Minnesota, and I have spent practically my entire life in the same house. My mother is a first generation immigrant from Cambodia because of the Vietnam War, while my father was born in Minnesota and has roots tied to the South. I also have a younger brother in 7th grade. Some of my hobbies include, but are not limited to baseball, basketball, cooking, and golfing. Recently I have been into golf; playing a round whenever I can, but I am still pretty terrible. However, I would say I am pretty good at baseball and basketball.

What is going well in life

One thing that’s going well in my life is fall club baseball. We have been playing well as a team, but I have also been playing well individually. Another thing that has been going well is my golf game. I feel as if I have finally removed the main piece of my swing that was holding me back. This makes me very excited to see how I play on the course this fall and next summer. Finally, I would say that my classes aren’t too bad, they’re not incredible but I have a few friends in every class so it’s alright.

About me as a learner

Some of my strengths as a learner are that I always try to put my best work forward and pay attention to even the smallest details of an assignment. But that also ties in to my biggest weakness, turning in work on time. I definitely abused the 10 day turn in policy after the due date. This is something I will work on and hopefully solve quickly or else this might be a long year.

This is probably not my favorite song but I have been playing it a lot recently. I would say I have a semi-diverse music taste. Summer was more a country music phase, but now that its fall and winter is on the way Drake has found his way back into the playlist.
