So I am an educator, which means I got into schools or other nonprofits to provide education and that's the funnest part of my job to work with the youth in person and that was taken away and it was weird to carry on with education. There was a weird transition regarding education and I felt guilty because i had a lot of time in my hands and not a lot of work and I was working remotely and because I work in an organization that has health care providers, the staff who work in the health care setting were over worked, very stress, still going to work. So that's why I felt guilt because I knew some of my colleagues were struggling and I was in a very privileged situation and I did get a lot of anxiety because f that guilt because I felt like I wasn't doing enough" (Marisol Orendain Interview)

I couldn’t visit my professor for help in school. Yea, so that was the academic factor. Remote learning was just not the right thing for me, because I will lose focus. The environment also played a huge role when I was at school. I feel more concentrated and also I am the type of person that learns more with the study group. So being totally independent on my own and studying on my own; watching lectures at home wasn’t really the thing for me.
(Iris Wong interview)

Most of my challenges came from losing a quieter environment and coming back home. But more importantly was the fact that our teacher and professor were learning how to move to remote teaching just as much as we were. A lot of the richness of academic experience was kind of lost. I would say it was a time of uncertainty and so no one really knew what they were doing and because of that, just the entire academic experience kind of just suffered from that.

(Aleena I interview)

Nothing positive from Covid for certain communities

" I don't think it was the outbreak that gave me anything positive cause everything. I think because we were on the ground too much that. We just we just had too many people too. Too many people from our community getting affected. I don't think I could. I can say there was anything positive because before I was already fortunate enough to be able to still have time with my family on the weekends. And have some time with my friends too.

-Pilar interview

Negative attitude towards existing systems during Covid

And I know people have different experiences with this and an they say like, oh, I realized I was working too much and now I was able to spend more time with my family at home. But for me personally, that was just. There was no positive. And and I mean, thankfully, like. Very blessed but also like thinking about it. I mean how blessed can can someone be. I was still able to organize even though like it's mostly us, being able to be in contact with people. And. I was fortunate enough to to be the one working when my mom and my sister couldn't, and being able to at least. Survive. But. Yeah. I don't see anything positive, I just I'm very upset with the already system that has in place how much it let us down.

-Pilar interview

"I need the whole thing is to get used to with how everything is formatted. Everything was slightly adjusted. Luckily my high school already has a system in which we turn in homework and everything on projects online already. However, not having. The I had a lot less attention span when going into online learning, so yeah, I didn't really have for us we had not incentive to keep going to classes, especially at the time period when we started to going online. Since everything was more in the confusion in mass confusion. For our school most of it was even required. So for the end of my senior year, I think it was mostly confusion and have been having too. Its like trynna find ways to adjust to the new online system."

- Cristian M interview
