Hello, during these months in which I have studied English, I have been able to reinforce some skills to improve my writing, listening and speaking. Today I will talk about my strengths and weaknesses:

Strenghts:
- I think one of my abilities is reading comprehension. I really like reading about different stuffs, for example about architecture and design.

- I like to learn new vocabulary and try to write in Englsih. To my way of thinking this is one of the best forms to embrace a new language. If you Know vocabulary, you open your mind to new forms to express.

Weaknesses:
- Well, during this last courses I've noticed that I need to speak better, without pet words, with confidence and using new grammar. Sometimes I didn't clearly state my ideas.

- Another point that I must improve is remember some vocabulary and the time of the sentences that I have to use to speak correctly. I hope to improve my grammar. If I review this topic, I'll can speak fluently and clearly.

In this new course I wish will study and improve my skills to speak, write and listen better.

Also I had problems using the correct vocabulary and correct intonation.

If I had had the opportunity to present again the task, I would try to speak more fluently and less cut off, without pet words and using more grammar of the unit 1 and 2.

I forgot to say one phrase or idea using must, may or might. Actually, because of the accident that I had, I have used a natural ointment for my scratch and I have felt that treatment is effective.

At the end, I had problems concluding the talk. I would have said:
In conclusion, alternative medicine is the best option when you don't have a very painful illness that requires a traditional treatment. For example an operation for a fracture or a heart attack.

Julián, you wrote an accurate reflection on your performance for the second task. As you mentioned, you did a great job on stating your point of view and speaking fluently at the beginning of your recording. Since your supporting details were not as strong as your topic sentence, you may want to organize ideas and use the target language a little bit more. Set action plans to monitor the use of basic grammar structures to have a better performance in future tasks.

Julián, thanks for sharing some of your life experiences with us. In this video, you were able to organize and connect ideas making it easy for the listener to follow your speech. You also did a good job on speaking naturally and fluently, but you may want to work on some language aspects; for example, pronunciation of -ed endings and use of the target language. For future tasks, try to include extra examples with the grammar topics covered in each unit so you can improve your current level of English. Way to go!

Iko is a prosthetic arm designed by the colombian industrial designer Carlos Torres and sponsored by CIREC and LEGO Future Lab. This innovative product was designed for children who have missed their arm.

Children with disability have many problems and the project tried to understand the bad perception that kids have around prosthetics, the deep focus that companies have on engineering and not the human part of these kids, the social isolation of a kid because of his condition and how hard can be for them to build a strong self esteem.

The main idea of the product is to generate a new mindset about current prosthetics are, and the impact of these elements in the relationships with other children. The project starts with one question:
”What if kids in disability could build their own prosthetics according to their own needs while having fun?”.

The sponsor LEGO Future Lab was crucial to answer this question and solve this “problem” because they do really know kids and they shared the value of play and learning together. The product, turn the prosthesis into an innovative and unique toy was something that had to be explored, there had to be a right balance between a playful experience and something functional. If Lego have not supported this project, kids could not use their imagination to customize their own prosthetics according to their own necessities and dreams.

If Carlos Torres hadn’t designed Iko, this kids wouldn’t have felt good with their prosthetics. In my opinion, This is a great example of the creativity and innovation of colombian industrial designers.
