There are a lot of steps for students to be able to complete the prompts. Students may feel overwhelmed, especially if they haven't practiced this as a class prior to the CAASPP. Students can highlight each source in a different color to help them organize any notes they write down. Then they know which source to look back to based on their notes.

Students can also be taught to chunk the readings into paragraphs so that it seems more attainable to read through all of those different sources.

It is helpful to see a sample of what these assessments look like.

It will be helpful to have students practice these and if teachers practice scoring them, they will also know how students will be scored, that way we know how to best prepare students as well.

These sources were high level and it is a process for students to unpack the vocabulary and make connections between the different sources. These skills need to be taught so students can be successful with these aspects of the assessment.

Number 2: We kind of stuck with the 1 and 2 ballpark for scoring here.

Our numbers were a little bit different for a few sections but we all kind of had the same ideas for why we gave them our scores (i.e. no punctuation, no capitalization, not too organized, etc.)
