The article is saying that the financial crisis is still going on, everywhere you look, you can see it but the statistics says no. The author is suggesting that it’s time for a new measurement that will do a “better job”.

This article is relevant because we learned about GDP in class and how it’s important to our country. It measures the development of the goods and services in our country and others. However, according to one of our readings “Beyond GDP”, it fails to record consumer welfare and more. Because of this the GDP needs some fixing to be done.

China might need to buy more gas in the future from the U.S because their tariffs will be hurting them. The U.S has more advantage of cheap gas to tempt developers to buy, but China has a possibility in gaining attracted investment dollars but the U.S will grow.

This article reminds me of Guillen’s article on Comparative Institutionalism. It says that the world is not flat, there is no equal opportunities in this world. For example, path dependency, China made a choice and cannot change it, they might have to buy more gas and it is going to hurt them.

Overall, the U.S president damaged the Iranian economy. The collapse of the rial/money has been identified as a consequence of the U.S sanctions and economy decrease and can drop the Iranian government.

This article reminds me of development because not every country’s economy is doing good and have equal value. For example, comparing the U.S with Iran, the U.S has more advantage and can easily withdraw from an agreement. At the end the U.S does not get hurt because is more developed, however Iran is the one getting hurt because does not have a good economy.

Those rules can and will give the government a lot capability to block “foreign transactions” on national security land. The foreign investors will have to tell a treasury committee about deals they do of technology due to the economy fight against China and the US.

This article relates to the class because it talks about companies making foreign investments in other countries. The fund said that the global economy will advance 3.7 percent this year. For the US 2.9 percent and 6.6 percent for China. These two countries are the worlds biggest economies and are competing and challenging technology power.

This article is relevant because it talks about the economy growing throughout the global and competition against developed countries. Also, because it talks about the fund, IMF. IMF was formulated in the Bretton Wood conference and created by 44 nations. The goal for the IMF is for macroeconomic stability and governance with the article talks about the economy.

“Post #6 (November 24, 2018) – US Mortgage Rates Fall”

They found out that the average fee on 30-year mortgage fell to 4.81 percent. They researched that the rates have been low this month due to the fall of stocks and oil prices.

This article relates because it talks about mortgages being the original financial instrument. I learned that the original investor gets paid through CDO, so if the rates fall, they won’t get paid as much as if the rates are higher. However, if the rates are high and owners cannot pay them then CDO takes the risks and are in trouble.

The regulators are worried about the correspondent banking because it continues to decline. Due to remittances service being a concern at the moment, some banks want to step away.

This article is relevant because it talks about remittances, which is the economic transfer from one-way migrant to sending household. If banks try to step back then the checks of the remittance will not go to the country it needs to go to. Remittance can be a good thing because it makes a change of development in the world.

Migration continues because people want to improve their fortunes and many more reasons.

This article relates because immigration can be a good thing as to development. For example, income goes up if immigration goes up according to the reading from Sanderson. Migrants will want to work to have money and will increase the economy. There will be more remittances due to sending money to their country for their family members if immigration continues in the U.S.

It talks about how remittances are worth more than the value of official development assistance. France wants to make a new law that will introduce cities to allow congestion prices to lower pollution and traffic jams. Also, wants to include railway that connects to small cities because they usually focus on major cities only.

This is relevant because it reminds me of France having roads for global cities like Paris but usually not to small cities. Usually people work, live and visit around global cities because it’s where everything and are emerging centers of transnational communities.
