Mary Magdalene Summary

Mary Magdalene was came from a town called Magdala on the western side of the Sea of Galilee. She is known to be one of Jesus' most loyal followers and is said to have been the first to see his resurrection. She has for a long time been depicted as a sinner but newer research has disputed this and describes Mary as a wise spiritualist loved by Jesus. Most of what is known about Mary is mainly in the new testament. She has believed to be of a Jewish decent even though her actions were Gentile. The gospels of Luke, Mark, Matthew and John has Mary placed as witness of Jesus' crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. These references only speak of her presence and her actions during these events. Her personality, history, or character isn't described. However, she is depicted in the Media as a prostitute, Jesus' love interest, and his even wife.
