2-Nativity Scene
For the vast majority of Christians, Christmas means the birth of Jesus. Therefore, placing the nativity scene underneath the Christmas tree is one of the most common Christmas traditions.

3-Santa Claus
Almost all children believe in Santa Claus: This figure has red and white clothes, long beards and arms and some more weight.

4-Cake-King
The famous Cake King, is a Christmas tradition that in Portugal does not go unnoticed to practically no family. With a round shape and with a hole in the middle covered with candied fruit and with dried fruit inside.

5-Socks in the chimney
The socks in the chimney symbolize an ancient legend

6-Christmas Postcards
This tradition is one of the most recent. It was created by an Englishman named Henry Cole.

7-Mass of the rooster
The mass of the rooster is selected at midnight and is more celebrated in the villages than in the big cities.

8-Christmas Tree
Legend has it that the pine was chosen by its triangular form, which represents (for Christians) the Holy Trinity: Father, son and Holy Spirit.

9-Gifts and exchange of gifts
Christmas presents are undoubtedly one of the greatest Christmas traditions. These days, they are mostly offered to children. As adults, gifts are essentially things .

10-Christmas dinner
Usually eat cooked btatas cod and sprouts on the night of day 24. Many families finish their meal with Cake king or French toast.

11-Consonada
In Portugal, the Christmas Supper is named after the Christmas Eve celebrated on the night of the 24th of December.

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS IN PORTUGAL
In Portugal, Christmas is made by many traditions, such as: Nativity scene, Santa Claus, Fruit cake, Chimney socks, Christmas cards, Rooster Mass, Consoada and Christmas season change.

At Christmas in Portugal it is usual to eat King Cake, Dreams, Bacalhau, Santa Claus of Chocolate, Peru and Sweet Rice.

In the new year we eat Old Clothes (Christmas remnants) the Bolo Rei and the old tradition of the twelve trendy ones in which one eats a grape goes through a ring. The traditions in the New Year are as follows: the Kiss of Midnight, the firework, hit with the wooden spoons in the pots and pans, because as the legend says is to ward off the evil spirits of the previous year.
