The states created their own constitution and they would only protect the people in their state they would have their own currency and they would have their own laws. Most of the states had only let white men vote. Though, you would have to pay taxes for them to vote. They made the articles of confederation. This was good because they actually had some sort of government! Though, It would take things very long to agree on because if they wanted something to be changed they needed to be approved by 9 of the 13 states. This took so long because usually 8 of the 9 states were to agree and 1 were to not and then nothing would change and only 1 of the states would be able to get what they want.  Congress had the power to pass laws. Like own land were Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. The federal government could make their own money.Benefits of having a weak central government were that the states could make their own laws. People also wanted the government to be weak they wanted the PEOPLE to have the power.  The government needed their own big army. Also, the British were flooding goods into America for low prices putting the US in a big Economic problem. People could even have the power to destroy big government buildings in their states if their were against what is going on a mallicia. Many people were going bankrupt because of the high taxes. The central Government was failing the people. Though the states could make their own money no one would use it because the states had their own uneak currency. It was also really hard to trade because all of the states would have their own trading laws. Also, they couldn't ask for taxes because the states had the power to say no to them. Though the congress had to pay France and this was bad. The central Government literally had little to no power at all. They had a very hard time paying things that they owed to other countries.
